Summary This Meeting and Events Supervisor (Unit Chief) position is located in the Meeting and Events Management Unit (MEM), Facilities and Operations Branch (FOB), Office of Administrative Services (OAS). The primary purpose of the position is to manage the agency's conference rooms, consult on panel planning, lead special events logistics planning, and coordinate and oversee meeting and events services for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). Responsibilities As a Meeting and Events Supervisor (Unit Chief), you will perform the following duties: Manage the agency's e-business and videoconferencing programs, including planning for resources, developing procedures, researching and experimenting with new technologies, planning, analyzing program requirements, implementing upgrades, and developing an outreach program. Responsible for the strategic plan of the meeting and events management operations, including setting goals, short- and long-term planning, and the steps and resources required to accomplish the goals. Identify and assess customer needs, develop plans to meet customer needs in a cost-effective manner, and oversee the implementation and management of accepted solutions. Plan, direct, assign, lead, and monitor work of the unit, or select employees, and managing and appraising employee and organizational performance. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen. Additional Requirements: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade/equivalent. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service overseeing and leading the coordination of logistical requirements associated with meetings and events management. Examples of specialized experience include: Coordinating all operational aspects of meetings and events, including venue selection, room setup, and layout planning to optimize attendee flow and experience. Liaising with vendors (catering, audio-visual, decorators) to ensure seamless delivery of services and adherence to event requirements. Providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for event platforms and equipment. Maintaining strict adherence to regulations and best practices during event execution. Conducting post-event evaluations, gathering feedback, and preparing detailed reports for leadership and stakeholders on program performance. Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
