Summary About the Position: This position is located at the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Located in the scenic Hudson River valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as officers in the US Army upon graduation. Responsibilities Receive, store, issue, ship, and inspect ammunition. Verify quantity of boxes, packages and other items against shipping documents to ensure accuracy. Complete and maintain shipping documents. Utilize storage charts and technical manuals to determine ammunition storage locations. Load ammunition by classes in accordance with loading and storage charts and other pertinent regulations. Ensure vehicles are not overloaded, and that adequate block and bracing is applied to prevent shifting. Observe and inspect ammunition in storage for corrosion from moisture and deterioration to take corrective actions. Operate 6,000-pound forklifts to move, load, unload, transfer, stack or un-stack palletized goods, equipment, materials and supplies from one location to another. Operate 1/2 to 2 1/2 ton truck to transport materials from one location to another. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Munitions Handler without more than normal supervision to include: (1) Verifying incoming shipments against shipping/packing documents to ensure accuracy; (2) locating and/or storing ammunition; and (3) completing and/or maintaining shipment and/or storage documents. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below.
