Job Category:Academic Staff Employment Type:Regular Job Profile:Pre-College Services Advising Specialist Job Summary: PEOPLE Precollege Advisor- Milwaukee The Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) is a premier college readiness and college success program sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The PEOPLE Program is seeking an individual for the role of Milwaukee Precollege Advisor. The Precollege Advisor is responsible for advising and facilitating college readiness programming to an assigned caseload of students through the completion of the precollege program, and post-secondary enrollment. This position is also the local site administrator for Academic Centers for Enrichment hosted within Milwaukee Public Schools and will assist in supporting partnerships between PEOPLE, Milwaukee Public Schools, and the Milwaukee community. This position reports to Milwaukee Precollege Program Manager. About the Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) The Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) prepares Wisconsin students to succeed in college with an emphasis on enrollment at UW Madison. Our programming is offered in three distinct units: Madison Precollege, Milwaukee Precollege, and The College Success Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The program recruits students at the precollege level in Madison (8th grade) and Milwaukee School districts (9th grade). During the academic year, our precollege team advises students in Madison and Milwaukee public high schools, creating new pathways to higher education for low-income, and first-generation families. During the summer, our precollege team hosts our high school students in a robust residential program on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, offering students an opportunity to experience college life and build community in their cohorts.
