Job Title: General Utility Worker Job Description
This role supports a high-volume food production facility by rotating through key areas, including sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production line while handling materials, organizing packaging, and supporting the overall flow of operations.
Responsibilities
Rotate through four primary work areas: sanitation/pack-off, packing, palletizing, and box making, as directed by production needs.
Dispose of extra materials that will not be used in production in a safe and efficient manner.
Break down and dispose of incoming packages and labels according to established procedures.
Separate waste into appropriate categories, including general trash, cardboard, and plastic, to support proper disposal and recycling.
Spray machines and containers with disinfectant to maintain a sanitary production environment.
Support general production activities, including packaging and inspection of products to ensure quality standards.
Assist with packing finished products into boxes and preparing them for palletizing.
Stack and organize pallets of finished goods in a safe and orderly manner.
Assemble and prepare boxes for use on the production line.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
Work effectively on a fast-paced production line while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Communicate clearly with team members and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Consistently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds throughout a 10-hour shift.
Adapt to changing tasks and priorities as production demands shift across different areas.
Essential Skills
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds continuously throughout a 10-hour shift.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and production documentation.
At least 1 year of work history in any field demonstrating reliability and consistent employment.
Capability to work in a refrigerated environment with temperatures between 30-40 degrees.
Willingness to work 50+ hours per week, including most Saturdays, within a 2nd shift schedule.
Comfort working in a GMP food production environment with strict sanitation and safety standards.
Basic experience or aptitude in production, general production, packaging, or inspection tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in food production, packaging, or general manufacturing is helpful.
Familiarity with palletizing, box making, or similar warehouse tasks is an advantage.
Ability to follow detailed procedures for sanitation and cleaning of equipment.
Strong attention to detail when sorting materials and inspecting products.
Reliability and punctuality in a high-volume production setting.

Work Environment
This position operates on 2nd shift, typically from 3:45 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with most Saturdays required. Employees generally work more than 50 hours per week but are limited to 60 hours, and any hours worked over 8 in a shift are paid as overtime. The role is based in a GMP food production environment focused on meat processing, similar to sausage patty production. The entire production floor is refrigerated, with temperatures maintained between 30-40 degrees, requiring comfort working in a cold setting for extended periods. Employees wear an overcoat, gloves, hardhat, ear plugs, safety glasses, and knee-high non-slip rubber boots to ensure safety and compliance with food production standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
