Warehouse Shipping Associate
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Required Equipment: Steel-toe shoes or boots
Position Summary
The Warehouse Shipping Associate is responsible for accurately picking, assembling, packing, and shipping customer orders. This position ensures that merchandise is properly prepared, documented, verified, and organized for delivery to customers or other company divisions. The associate will also assist with receiving, material put-away, vehicle loading and unloading, and general warehouse operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble and fill customer orders for shipment to customers or other company divisions.
Pick orders using a scanner and warehouse management system.
Assemble customer orders for shipment through UPS and less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers.
Load and unload common-carrier and company vehicles.
Verify merchandise, quantities, descriptions, and shipping instructions before shipment.
Process shipment paperwork, including:
Confirming that the correct merchandise is being shipped.
Applying the appropriate postage tape.
Completing bills of lading (BOLs) for LTL shipments.
Following customer-specific shipping instructions.
Insuring shipments when required.
Gather completed orders from carts and verify item quantities and descriptions.
Count the total quantity of merchandise being shipped and record it on the invoice.
Pack orders securely into appropriate containers.
Arrange packed containers on shelves according to truck route.
Compare shipped items and quantities against invoices for accuracy.
Put away materials after receipt using warehouse procedures.
Provide coverage and assistance to other warehouse personnel as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
General knowledge of electrical products preferred.
Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Excellent attendance and punctuality required.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with coworkers.
Basic math skills, including the ability to accurately count merchandise and complete calculations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Attention to detail and commitment to shipment accuracy.
Ability to use scanners and warehouse management systems.
Ability to safely perform physical warehouse duties, including lifting, loading, unloading, packing, and standing for extended periods.
Steel-toe shoes or boots are required.
