THE WORK

The Airframe Design Engineering organization is seeking a highly motivated individual with an engineering degree and related experience to fill the role of Airframe Design Engineer on the Marine Corps Systems platform. Typical tasks include the design of metallic and composite airframe structure. The selected candidate will be involved in developing basic data, preliminary design layouts, and detail design for new and revised parts, assemblies, and systems that make up helicopter fuselage primary and secondary structures. This involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Selected candidate will participate in development and presentation of design proposals, detail design, and support through the product lifecycle. Layouts and model-based defimnition data sets for release will be prepared using Dassault's 3DEXPERIENCE (CATIA V6/3Dx). Composite design will utilize the 3Dx Composite Design workbenches (CPD). Occasional travel may be required to support suppliers, customer meetings, and reviews, as well as aircraft build support and test.

In this position, the design engineer will work with cross functional teams within the Sikorsky Engineering and Technology group, across multiple sites. Excellent communication skills are required to ensure the team effectively meets requirements and achieves milestones.

The individual will actively engage in continuous quality improvement through root cause analysis and corrective action processes and the use of other Continuous Improvement (CI) tools.

US citizenship required as most programs and projects assigned are ITAR restricted.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a creative, detail-oriented engineer with a strong foundation in airframe design and experience with metallic and composite structures. You are proficient with CATIA V5/V6 or similar CAD tools and bring strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. An engineering degree and relevant experience are required.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university with 2 years of professional experience, or no experience required with a related Masters degree.

US Citizenship is required.

Desired Skills

Experience with CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE, or equivalent CAD/PLM systems

Experience in design of metallic and composite airframe structures

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

Experience in model based definition

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Good communication skills and able to work in a team environment

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
