As the Advanced CIWS Marine Electrician, you will be part of a dynamic team supporting our US. Navy and the CIWS program in Norfolk, VA, where you will be responsible for Performing non-routine and complex assignments involving the responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project that will be performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
Serco works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver quality work performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships located in the beautiful surroundings of Chesapeake, Virginia.
In this role, you will:
Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.
Contact personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work.
Review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.
Outline objective, requirement, and design approaches completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.
Possibly train and assist lower-level technicians.
Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment.
Conduct tests or experiments.
Analyze results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance, and reports results.
From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develop designs for equipment without critical performance requirements which are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry.
Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems; select from several possible design layouts; calculate design data; and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
Possibly check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
Plan or assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.
Determine test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conduct tests using all @types of instruments; analyze and evaluate test results and prepare reports on findings and recommendation.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
The ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
US Citizenship.
The ability to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
5 years of experience.
An OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain a certification
Be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
Experience and knowledge of Close In Weapon Systems (CIWS) Deutsch specific Fiber Optic Pins and connectors to include testing.
Should have completed US NAVY Fire Control School for Close in Weapons Systems BLK 1B.
Familiar with the termination and operation of the Close In Weapon System (CIWS) firing cutout circuits and Mount train warning bell.
Knowledge and experience with structural installation efforts to include welding and fitting.
Experience and knowledge with Close in Weapon System (CIWS) Equipment Layout to include the Remote Control and Local Control Stations or similar/related experience.
The ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Additional desired experience and skills:
A DoD Secret Clearance
A NAVSEA connector certification and NAVSEA Fiber termination certification.

Salary range: The hourly amount for this position can be found at the top of this posting. This role is covered by the Service Contract Act.?For positions on this contract, we will pay the prevailing wage rate for the location in which the employee is working, as determined by the Department of Labor and the Wage Determination (WD). The wage rate will vary depending on the locality. Additionally, you will receive Health and Welfare Benefits based on the WD for the contract.
