General Foreman - Plywood Manufacturing

POSITION SUMMARY

Timber Products Company is looking for a General Foreman for its Plywood Manufacturing mill in Medford, OR. This position supports the company in meeting its production goals by supervising all activities of employees on their assigned shift; ensures a safe and efficient work environment by communicating and managing Company established quality, production, safety and human resource policies.

Shift : May be assigned to any shift - Day: 7am-3pm, Swing: 3pm-11pm, or Graveyard: 11pm-7am

MAJOR TASKS

Supervises the entire production process while managing staff (salaried and hourly), equipment, and materials to achieve the highest safety, quality and production levels.

Resolves conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.

Maintains quality control standards to maximize company profitability and achieve customer satisfaction.

Regularly inspects the mill for maintenance and safety problems and then reports to the appropriate staff members.

Conducts individual meetings and leads crew meetings to communicate pertinent information to employees.

Completes administrative paperwork and reporting related to production reports, scheduling, personnel actions, payroll and safety.

Participates in selection process and recommends applicants for hire.

Uses independent judgment in identifying and establishing long and short-term work goals and organizing and directing resources needed to meet these goals

Responsible for supporting and enforcing company policies and procedures.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

A BA/BS degree in business administration, production management or related field preferred, but not required.

A minimum of four years of supervisory experience, preferably in wood products or other manufacturing environment.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Must have strong time management and decision making skills.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and concerns.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Leadership and motivational skills that allow candidates to achieve productivity, quality and safety goals.

Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail, and ability to learn and use company specific software.
