Description
The Lead, Finance Platform Engineering is responsible for leading the day-to-day engineering delivery, technical execution, and continuous improvement of the enterprise Finance platform portfolio. This role serves as a hands-on engineering leader accountable for the successful realization of Finance technology solutions across SAP ECC and related enterprise Finance platforms, translating approved business requirements and solution designs into high-quality engineering solutions while ensuring technical excellence, platform stability, and production readiness.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance Platform Engineering, this role partners closely with Finance Product and Technology leaders, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Business Services (EBS), Operations & Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and strategic technology partners to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable Finance capabilities that support global business operations.
The Lead provides technical leadership for engineering teams and Enterprise Business Services (EBS) resources, overseeing engineering realization across core Finance capabilities including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Controlling, Treasury, Financial Close, and Finance integrations. The role is responsible for coordinating engineering delivery, developing and reviewing technical solutions to ensure alignment with approved solution designs, mentoring engineers, resolving complex technical challenges, and ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, engineering best practices, and long-term platform sustainability.
This leader also contributes to Finance platform modernization initiatives by supporting SAP ECC and S/4HANA transformation activities, cloud and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) adoption, AI-enabled engineering practices, and the integration of enterprise Finance technologies such as OneStream and other modern financial planning, consolidation, reporting, and automation capabilities. Experience with technologies including SAP Fiori, OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM), SAP Concur, SAP Ariba Finance integrations, SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), and SAP Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM) is highly desirable.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Engineering Delivery, Technical Leadership & Platform Stewardship (40%)
Lead the day-to-day engineering delivery of enterprise Finance platform initiatives, ensuring successful realization of approved business requirements and solution designs through high-quality technical execution, delivery predictability, and production readiness.
Provide hands-on technical leadership across SAP Finance engineering activities, including engineering realization, code reviews, development and validation of technical solutions aligned to approved solution designs, defect resolution, and production support readiness.
Coordinate engineering delivery across Enterprise Business Services (EBS), strategic technology partners, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful realization of Finance capabilities.
Lead engineering efforts supporting core Finance business capabilities, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets (AA), Controlling (CO), Treasury, Financial Close, and Finance integrations.
Partner with the Senior Manager, Finance Platform Engineering, to execute approved platform roadmaps, modernization initiatives, engineering improvements, and lifecycle plans while supporting long-term platform sustainability.
Ensure engineering deliverables align with approved solution designs, enterprise architecture standards, engineering principles, security requirements, and established development methodologies.

Engineering Governance, Quality & Platform Optimization (30%)
Establish and maintain engineering quality standards, technical governance, release readiness, and delivery controls supporting enterprise Finance platforms.
Review engineering approaches, development standards, implementation plans, and technical solutions for alignment with approved solution designs, ensuring scalable, maintainable, secure, and supportable implementations.
Drive continuous improvement through platform optimization, identify technical debt and recommend remediation strategies, engineering automation, environment management, and execution of approved modernization initiatives.
Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Operations & Infrastructure, and Finance Technology teams to ensure engineering solutions align with enterprise standards and operational requirements.
Support lifecycle management activities including environment utilization, platform upgrades, release planning, software maintenance, performance optimization, and production stability.
Identify technical risks, delivery challenges, and platform improvement opportunities while proactively developing mitigation and remediation plans.
Ensure engineering documentation, production support readiness, knowledge transfer, and operational handoff activities are completed to enable successful transition into ongoing support.

Partner with Finance Product and Technology leaders to translate approved business requirements and solution designs into high-quality engineering solutions supporting enterprise Finance capabilities and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with Finance stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Business Services (EBS), and strategic technology partners to successfully deliver Finance platform enhancements and transformation initiatives.
Provide technical leadership during planning, estimation, engineering reviews, testing, deployment, and production readiness activities.
Support Finance platform modernization initiatives, including SAP ECC optimization, S/4HANA transformation activities, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) adoption, OneStream integration, and AI-enabled engineering capabilities where applicable.
Foster strong relationships across business and technology organizations to improve collaboration, engineering transparency, and delivery effectiveness.
Engineering Excellence & Organizational Capability (10%)
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and day-to-day guidance to Finance Platform Engineering Senior Analysts, Analysts, Enterprise Business Services (EBS) resources, and strategic technology partners.
Promote engineering excellence through the adoption of modern engineering practices, automation, reusable assets, AI-enabled development capabilities, and continuous learning.
Encourage knowledge sharing, technical documentation, and engineering best practices to strengthen organizational capability and improve delivery consistency.

Qualifications
SAP Finance Engineering & Enterprise ERP Expertise
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience leading engineering delivery, technical solution development, or enterprise application engineering within complex global organizations.
Demonstrated expertise supporting enterprise SAP Finance environments, including Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets (AA), Treasury, Financial Close, and Finance integrations.
Strong understanding of SAP ECC Finance and the broader SAP application ecosystem supporting enterprise Finance business capabilities.
Proven experience leading engineering realization of approved business requirements and solution designs across enterprise Finance applications while coordinating Enterprise Business Services (EBS), strategic technology partners, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Experience supporting enterprise financial operations, statutory reporting, internal controls, financial compliance, and global Finance business processes.
Experience supporting global Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Manufacturing, Retail, or similarly complex multinational organizations is strongly preferred.
