Responsibilities
Provide back office medical assistance in a high-volume outpatient clinic, focusing on colorectal specialty care.
Support a senior physician or nurse practitioner with daily clinical activities and patient flow.
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort, privacy, and clear communication throughout their visit.
Perform patient care tasks within scope, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting medical histories, and updating patient records in the electronic health record system.
Utilize the Athena electronic medical record (EMR) system to accurately enter, update, and retrieve patient information.
Assist with appointment scheduling and coordination to maintain an efficient clinic schedule.
Perform insurance verification and related data entry to support accurate billing and smooth patient check-in processes.
Communicate professionally with patients, clinicians, and staff, demonstrating empathy, clarity, and respect at all times.
Follow clinical protocols and instructions from providers, and respond positively to feedback and direction.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment in compliance with clinic policies and healthcare regulations.
Support a positive, stable work environment by demonstrating reliability, strong work ethic, and a collaborative attitude.
Essential Skills
1-2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a high-volume outpatient clinic setting.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
Verified high school diploma or GED (must be obtained and verified before submission).
Active BLS/CPR certification.
Strong experience with electronic health records, with Athena EMR experience required.
Comfort working within a colon and rectal specialty practice and with related procedures and patient needs.
Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Professional communication skills with patients, providers, and colleagues.
Ability to accept and apply feedback and direction from clinical leadership.
Experience with appointment scheduling and insurance verification.
Proven reliability and professionalism in a clinical back office role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working exclusively in back office roles in an outpatient clinic is highly desirable.
Prior experience supporting a senior physician or nurse practitioner in a specialty practice.
Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality of care.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle high patient volumes and multiple tasks.

Work Environment
This position is based in a high-volume outpatient colorectal specialty clinic that values stability, professionalism, and a positive team culture. The role is strictly back office, with no front office duties, and involves close collaboration with a senior physician or nurse practitioner. You will work primarily with the Athena electronic medical record system and standard clinical equipment used in specialty outpatient care. The schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with limited but possible overtime based on clinic needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
