Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify needed repairs or improvements.

This position is for a Master Plumber and requires a current Master Plumber License. Located at Arkansas Health Center in Benton. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with plumbing estimating, project management & material procurement; Experience installing, repairing & maintaining water, sewer, gas and drainage systems. Strong troubleshooting & diagnostic skills are a plus. Experience supervising, training & mentoring preferred.

Job Summary

The Skilled Tradesman Supervisor/Expert is responsible for overseeing and managing skilled trades operations within a department. This position involves supervising and coordinating the work of skilled trades professionals in areas such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, welding, and general facility maintenance. The Skilled Tradesman Supervisor/Expert ensures that all maintenance, repair, and construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency's operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of skilled trades workers, ensuring productivity, quality work, and adherence to safety standards. Assign tasks and monitor work progress to ensure timely and efficient project completion. Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to trades personnel in areas such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and welding. Knowledge and Skills

Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more skilled trades, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, or welding. Experience operating and maintaining tools, machinery, and heavy equipment related to skilled trades. Strong knowledge of state and federal safety regulations, building codes, and OSHA standards.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required, plus at least three (3) years of experience in one or more skilled trades.

Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee's demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.

Licensure/Certifications

Trade-related certifications (e.g., HVAC certification, journeyman electrician, plumbing license) are required if mandated by the trade. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
