Position Description
TheDepartment of Engineering Technology (https://www.txst.edu/technology.html) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in Construction Management.
This position is designed for individuals whose primary focus is on research, scholarly, and creative activities that enhance the research mission of the university, with a strong emphasis on mentoring and supervising PhD students. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting doctoral student progression, including dissertation development, research design, and publication.
The position carries expectations for actively mentoring doctoral students in their own research throughout their academic journey; conducting externally funded research producing high-impact scholarly work; and teaching graduate level courses.
Responsibilities:
Mentor and supervise PhD students, including dissertation advising and research development.
Contribute to the growth and structure of the PhD program in Construction Management.
Support doctoral students through key milestones, including proposal development, research execution, and publication.
Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program.
Lead and manage research teams that include graduate and doctoral students.
Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
Collaborate with faculty, industry, and external research partners.
Required Qualifications
For all ranks:
Earned doctoral degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated research competence and scholarly contributions.
Evidence of research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
Demonstrated ability or strong potential to mentor graduate and PhD students.
Excellent Oral and Written English Language skills.
For Associate Professor:
Minimum of five years of independent, externally funded research experience.
Demonstrated record of sustained scholarly contributions.
Experience mentoring graduate or doctoral students.
For Professor:
Minimum of ten years of independent, externally funded research experience.
Demonstrated national or international recognition in the field.
Significant experience mentoring PhD students and supervising dissertation work.
Record of leadership in research programs and professional organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience graduating doctoral students or serving on dissertation committees.
Established record of securing external funding.
Experience leading interdisciplinary or industry-sponsored research.
Alignment with Construction Management research areas such as risk analysis, project delivery, financial controls, operations, or decision-making.
Teaching and mentoring students in an online environment.
