The University of Miami/UHealth, Division of Development and Alumni Relations, has an exciting opportunity for a full time Associate Director, Development Marketing Communications to work in Miami, FL.
The Associate Director, Development Marketing Communications, provides strategic support to the Sr. Director, Development Communications, directing the workflow of the department in the Director's absence. The Associate Director, Development Communications serves as lead writer, responsible for crafting creative, compelling and persuasive communications that will drive increased awareness, builds loyalty, generates philanthropic support, and expresses gratitude amongst key stakeholders for the University of Miami. The Incumbent creates a variety of content across digital and traditional platforms and serves as second in command to the Executive Director in her/his absence.Core responsibilities:
Serves as the principal communications liaison to the Development Resources team, working with the AVP and development officers. Strategizes with Development Resources team members on their communications needs, identify solutions and approaches and manages the creation of communication products and materials that support the Development Resources objectives.
Serves as the editor/webmaster for division intranet; manages content development and placement, updates, and ongoing maintenance.
Serves as the representative/delegate for the Sr. Director of Development Communications, directing the workflow of the department, representing the Director at meetings, and coordinating assignments with other copywriters as needed.
Strengthens the University of Miami's philanthropic narrative by serving as lead copywriter/content developer; create original and compelling content for a variety of channels including newsletters, social media channels, e-mails, websites, advertisements, and other needs.
Develops relationships with story sources and subject matter experts across the university to build editorial strategies and create new pathways for the collection and promotion of philanthropic content.
Conceptualizes, writes, and edits consumer-facing fundraising materials - from brainstorming to message development to delivery of final product - including brochures, proposals, power point presentations, case statements. Work closely with designers to ensure creative vision is executed properly.
Serves as one of the principal writers of unit-based campaign prospectuses; work with development officers to translate fundraising ideas into compelling, persuasive white papers.
Serves as lead writer for special projects as requested by President, Provost, Sr. Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, and others. Includes preparing special correspondence, acknowledgements, and other written materials, including speeches, and talking points.
Creates and produce donor recognition pieces and award submissions as needed.
Maintains a clear and consistent brand voice while adapting language styles to appeal to various target markets and/or communication channels.
Edits content produced by other members of the team.
Assists Strategic Events team with communications needs as it relates to events.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
