Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing all industrial equipment within a food processing facility. This role focuses on keeping production machinery, particularly conveyor systems that handle green beans and bell peppers, operating efficiently with minimal downtime. The technician supports the maintenance leadership team in installing and executing preventive maintenance programs throughout the facility, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repair on industrial equipment, with a focus on conveyor systems used in food processing operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues on production machinery to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operations.
Conduct electrical work on systems up to 480 volts, including three-phase motors and related components.
Support the implementation and installation of preventive maintenance (PM) programs across the facility.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment problems.
Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments on conveyors and associated machinery as needed.
Carry out routine inspections of equipment to identify potential issues before they cause production interruptions.
Use PLC troubleshooting methods to assist in diagnosing control-related issues on automated equipment, when required.
Complete industrial maintenance repairs in a timely and safe manner, following established procedures and standards.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support ongoing equipment reliability.
Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to coordinate repairs around production schedules.
Assist with hydraulic, pneumatic, and machine repair tasks as needed to maintain overall equipment performance.
Provide service support for electrical maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and best practices.
Participate in extended shifts during peak production seasons to support increased maintenance demands.
Essential Skills
Strong electrical background with the ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems without extensive training.
Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting for production machinery and facility equipment.
Hands-on experience repairing conveyor systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Ability to perform electrical work on equipment and systems up to 480 volts safely and effectively.
Experience working with and fixing three-phase motors.
Capability to read and interpret electrical schematics and industrial blueprints.
Experience in preventive maintenance for industrial equipment, including planning and execution of PM tasks.
Skill in diagnosing and repairing issues on conveyor systems to minimize downtime.
General industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or processing facility.
Mechanical aptitude to support the electrical focus of the role with basic mechanical repairs and adjustments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with machine repair in an industrial setting.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems and the ability to perform basic hydraulic repairs.
Understanding of pneumatic systems and experience with pneumatic maintenance and troubleshooting.
Fabrication skills, such as basic welding, cutting, or metal work to support equipment repair and modification.
Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting for control systems on production equipment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a food processing plant that operates multiple shifts, with openings on first, second, and third shift. Typical hours for first shift are 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., second shift runs from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and third shift operates from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Technicians may initially work 10-12 hour days until the team is fully staffed, and during busy seasons such as around Thanksgiving, workweeks can extend to approximately 55-60 hours. The plant environment is kept at around 40 degrees, so employees are instructed to dress warmly in coats and gloves; company uniforms are provided after about one month. The facility uses industrial conveyor systems and related electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, and technicians work with standard industrial maintenance tools, electrical systems up to 480 volts, and three-phase motors in a production-focused setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $62400.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
