The Mechanical Engineer will design and test all aspects of mechanical equipment and pump machinery. Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of testing equipment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Review customer pump orders and technical specifications, setup test sheets and work with operator to achieve desired test results for customers.
Perform pump design calculation.
Create assembly and manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD and Siemens NX 3D modeling software.
Create diaphragm pump bills of material specific to each order using configuration tools.
Disposition of non-conforming parts, determine root causes and implement corrective actions on the shop floor and troubleshoot test and assembly issues.
Assist with the creation of quality plans and other related technical documentation and adhere to project schedules.
Make improvements to existing designs for Design for Manufacturing and quality improvements
Be a member of the team for new product development projects and contribute to the design and development activities
Actively engage in cost savings projects and continuous improvement projects
Be able to lead projects from start to finish including budgeting, spending and planning and scheduling activities to execute projects
Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; and requesting special services.
Maintains system and product data base by writing computer programs and entering data.
Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Occasionally travel to Customer sites or suppliers on an as needed basis. (up to 5% max travel expected)
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
Minimum of 1 year of proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D Modeling software, (Siemens NX is used by Sundyne) or other 3D modeling software
Minimum of 1 year of experience designing mechanical components.

Experience with design of rotating equipment, preferably pumps or compressors
Design of piping systems, and specifying pipe system instrumentation
The annual base salary range for this position is $84,400- $105,700. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
