POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Full Time, 40 hours per week
First Shift, 8 am to 4:30 pm

THE ROLE
The Supervising Accountant leads the Finance Unit, one of the units within OEC's Division of Finance and Fiscal/Administrative Services, and supervises three Associate Accountants. As a Supervising Accountant, you will have the opportunity to:
Establish and maintain unit accounting procedures including EDP procedures;
Develop or make recommendations on development of policies and standards;
Consult with superiors on accounting and fiscal matters;
Act as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
Prepare reports and correspondence;
Direct review and verification of complex financial documents, reports and statements;
Use statistical data in evaluating cost benefit relationships;
Direct review and verification of posting to appropriate ledgers and subsidiary accounts and reconciliation of accounts and records;
May direct analysis and preparation of budget requests;
Schedule, assign, oversee and review work of staff;
Provide staff training and assistance; conducts performance evaluations;
Determine priorities and plans unit work;
Field inquiries on behalf of leadership.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Considerable knowledge of

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Eight (8) years of experience in accounting or auditing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been performing the most complex accounting functions OR acting in a lead or consultative capacity at the level of an Associate Accountant or Associate Accounts Examiner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training in accounting or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree
A Master's degree in accounting may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supervising professional staff in accounting, fiscal, or related fields, including assigning work, providing training, and evaluating performance.
Experience using CORE-CT financial modules such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger/Commitment Control, or EPM for reporting and analysis.
Experience preparing, reviewing, or analyzing federal or state financial reports, or managing fiscal components of grant-funded programs.
Experience developing or improving internal controls, accounting procedures, or audit readiness.
Experience with budget development, financial forecasting, expenditure monitoring, or analyzing financial data to support program decision-making.
