Job Title: Construction General Laborer Job Description
Join a dedicated team of construction general laborers working on a highly secure facility in Groton, CT. In this role, you support site preparation and demolition activities, including clearing debris, leveling ground near a retaining wall, and assisting with wall repair. The work is physically demanding and hands-on, ideal for someone with construction or landscaping experience who is comfortable with tough manual labor and using a variety of hand and power tools in a controlled, security-focused environment.
Responsibilities
Clear designated sections of land by carrying buckets of debris from the work area to specified dump locations.
Assist with leveling the ground near a retaining wall to prepare the site for repair and reconstruction activities.
Support retaining wall repair work by handling materials, tools, and equipment as directed by site supervisors.
Perform general construction and demolition tasks, including site clean-up, debris removal, and material handling.
Use basic hand tools such as shovels, grading rakes, and wheelbarrows to move, spread, and grade materials.
Accurately measure distances and materials using a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch to support construction tasks.
Operate power tools including drills, hammer drills, and chipping hammers in a safe and efficient manner.
Follow all safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and other gear.
Comply with strict facility rules, including security screening requirements and zero tolerance for cell phone use on site.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with loading, cleaning, and general labor tasks as needed.
Collaborate with other laborers and site personnel to complete tasks on schedule and to required quality standards.
Essential Skills
1-2 years of experience in landscaping, construction, or general labor, with comfort performing tough manual labor.
Proficiency using basic hand tools such as shovels, grading rakes, and wheelbarrows.
Ability to use a tape measure accurately down to 1/16 of an inch.
Experience operating power tools including drills, hammer drills, and chipping hammers.
Familiarity with general labor tasks such as concrete work, cleaning, loading, and demolition.
Ability to work safely with hand and power tools in a construction environment.
Possession of an OSHA 10 card.
Valid U.S. passport or birth certificate to meet facility compliance and badging requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Masonry experience, including working with retaining walls, is a strong plus.
Concrete experience, such as drilling, chipping, or general concrete work, is preferred.
Exposure to carpentry, decking, and related construction tasks is beneficial.
Previous experience working in controlled or secure facilities is an advantage.
Demonstrated reliability and ability to follow strict site rules and procedures.

Work Environment
This role is based at a controlled, top secret shipyard facility in Groton, CT, located near the shore but not within 100 feet of any water. The environment is highly secure, requiring strict compliance screening and adherence to all security protocols. Cell phones are not permitted on site and must remain off the premises during working hours. Work is outdoors and physically demanding, involving extensive manual labor and use of hand tools, power tools, and PPE such as gloves provided by the employer. The setting emphasizes safety, discipline, and adherence to rules, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized work area throughout the project.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
