Summary You will serve as a AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES, DEPARTMENT 900 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will coordinate work while assuring proper inter-trade and inter-shop coordination and high level quality assurance with timely yet orderly job completion. You will provide on the job training for workers, correct improper air condition equipment work methods (TGI's), and ensure work related shipyard instructions and procedures are followed. You will inform the first line supervisor of job progress, performance, equipment and materials needed to complete job projects with adjustments as needed. You will utilize blueprints and sketches of work documents to plan and execute work tasks. You will be responsible for using proper prescribed work methods and procedures as well as the efficient use of personnel and equipment. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary air conditioning services in support of nuclear work or within radiologically controlled areas. You will provide air conditioning maintenance work on nuclear support facilities, to include: installation, scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting of building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units. You will lead workers to ensure that necessary plans, procedures, blueprints, instructions, tools are available to perform work operations. Education Additional Information Work is primarily accomplished at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. However, the incumbent may be assigned duty stations throughout the Hampton Roads area in the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach or Chesapeake, Virginia. Must be able to operate a crane, truck, tractor or vehicle. Incumbent will be subjected to protracted or irregular hours of work.
