Job Title: Electrical Assembler
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling and electrically wiring power buggies and concrete leveling machines, ensuring each unit is fully functional, safe, and ready for use in the field. You work on complete builds from mechanical assembly through electrical wiring, hydraulic connections, and final testing, while occasionally supporting production at a second facility.
Responsibilities
Assemble power buggies, which are compact dump-style machines used to transport concrete or mulch into areas where larger trucks cannot access.
Support the assembly and build of concrete leveling machines as needed across both facilities.
Follow detailed instructions and use provided parts laid out prior to each shift to complete full machine builds.
Use lifts and small overhead cranes to safely move and position machines and large components during assembly.
Install and route wiring harnesses and other electrical wiring to the control panel and associated components.
Connect and secure tubes and hydraulic lines, ensuring proper routing, fit, and leak-free connections.
Perform mechanical assembly tasks, including fitting, fastening, and aligning components according to blueprints and schematics.
Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques as needed to complete assemblies.
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and assembly documentation to ensure accurate builds.
Conduct functional testing of machines, including verifying steering (left and right), motion, and overall operation.
Connect a computer to each machine to run diagnostics and confirm that all systems operate correctly and safely.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues discovered during assembly or testing and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
Complete each machine within the typical build time frame of approximately 12-16 hours, including 3-4 hours for assembly, 5-7 hours for electrical work, and 4-5 hours for testing.
Collaborate with a small team of assemblers on the shop floor to meet weekly production targets of approximately 4-6 concrete levelers.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a modern shop environment.
Travel between the two current facilities (Darien and Delavan) as needed to support production at both locations.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of experience as an electrical assembler.
At least 1 year of experience as an auto mechanic or similar mechanical role.
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, including fitting, fastening, and alignment of components.
Practical electrical experience, including wiring harness installation and control panel wiring.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
Experience with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on machinery or vehicles.
Basic fabrication skills relevant to assembly work.
Familiarity with welding processes used in a shop environment.
Comfort using lifts and small overhead cranes to move and position equipment safely.
Ability to connect and route hydraulic lines and tubes accurately and safely.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for assembly tasks.
Willingness and ability to commute between two facilities (Darien and Delavan) as part of the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience assembling or maintaining industrial machinery, vehicles, or heavy equipment.
Experience working with concrete-related or construction equipment.
Experience with diagnostic tools and connecting computers to machines for testing and verification.
Demonstrated ability to manage complete builds from start to finish within defined timeframes.
Comfort working in a small, close-knit production team.
Flexibility to adapt to changing production needs and to support multiple product lines.
Why Work Here?
You join a growing, specialized manufacturer that operates in a niche market for concrete leveling machines and power buggies, offering the stability of an established operation with the excitement of ongoing expansion. You work in a small, collaborative team environment where your contributions are visible and valued. The shop is very clean, modern, and climate controlled, supporting your comfort and safety. The organization offers competitive benefits and insurance, along with regular annual reviews in the range of approximately 3-5% and performance-based bonuses in the range of approximately 2-8%, rewarding strong performance and long-term commitment. With a planned move to a new facility that is significantly larger than the current one, you gain opportunities to grow alongside the company and be part of its next phase of development.

Work takes place in a shop area that is approximately two years old, extremely clean, and designed for comfort and efficiency. The facility is climate controlled, with large ceiling fans, big garage doors, heated floors, and a well-appointed break room. The current operation involves two locations, with the main site in Darien and the power buggy line in Delavan, and candidates need to be comfortable commuting between these facilities as needed. The company plans to move to a new facility in Beloit that will be roughly twice to three times the size of the current space, providing an even more spacious and modern work environment. Appropriate shop attire includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a T-shirt, reflecting a practical and relaxed dress code suited to a hands-on manufacturing setting.
