Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, integrates, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems that support aerospace test and motion-control solutions. In this role, you work across servo systems, motors and drives, feedback devices, industrial controls, power systems, analog and digital circuitry, and hardware/software integration to deliver robust, high-performance engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
Apply electrical engineering principles to design and develop system components for complex aerospace test and motion-control products.
Create detailed technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and component specifications to guide manufacturing and assembly.
Develop system integration documentation, user manuals, and support materials that clearly communicate system functionality and usage.
Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to ensure systems are designed for ease of assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Review customer Statements of Work (SOW) and assess their impact on system design, testing requirements, and project scope.
Develop, coordinate, and execute test procedures to verify compliance with quality, performance, and regulatory standards.
Partner with engineers, project leaders, and customers to define requirements and deliver effective engineering solutions.
Provide expert electrical support during system integration activities and assist with customer service and field issues as needed.
Prepare estimates for materials, labor, and schedule planning to support new project proposals and project execution.
Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering processes, product quality, and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable regulatory and quality standards throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Participate and lead within the guidelines of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), contributing to a structured and accountable team environment.
Troubleshoot complex electrical systems, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Strong foundation in mechatronics, including motors and drives, feedback devices, and electromechanical systems.
Hands-on experience with electrical hardware and software integration.
Experience with industrial controls, PLCs, and power systems.
Knowledge of kinematics and thermodynamics as applied to motion-control and aerospace systems.
Familiarity with popular programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and JavaScript.
Experience using MATLAB and Simulink for modeling, analysis, and simulation.
Proficiency with Siemens CAD software, including Solid Edge, for electrical design and documentation.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems effectively and systematically.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
Proven problem-solving abilities and a structured approach to resolving technical challenges.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required and obtain a passport.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with hardware integration in complex, multi-disciplinary systems.
Experience in mechatronics involving motors, feedback devices, and motion-control solutions.
Experience creating detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, specifications, and user manuals.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management principles and compliance practices.
Experience working within an Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) or similar structured business framework.
Comfort working on technically challenging aerospace and defense programs across the full product lifecycle.
Ability to prepare material, labor, and schedule estimates to support project planning and proposals.
Strong customer-facing skills, including the ability to support integration activities and resolve field issues.
Candidates with significantly greater experience may be considered for higher-level positions, up to Principal Electrical Engineer.
Work Environment
This is a remote contract role that supports complex aerospace test and motion-control systems. The position follows a 9/80 schedule, providing a strong work-life balance with every other Friday off. Travel of approximately 10% is expected, primarily to Grand Forks, ND. You collaborate virtually with experienced industry experts and cross-functional engineering teams, using tools such as Siemens Solid Edge, MATLAB, Simulink, and modern programming languages in a structured environment that emphasizes ISO 9001 compliance, continuous improvement, and the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $82.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
