Summary This position is located within the Cooperative Studies Program of the Office of Research and Development at the Buffalo, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The position supports The Million Veteran Program (MVP). This appointment may be renewed for additional service in accordance with Agency needs for 1 additional year. Temporary positions offer health insurance (if the employee is expected to work at least 130 hours per month for at least 90 days) but do not offer life insurance or retirement benefits and may be terminated at any time before the expiration date. Duties include, but are limited to, the following: Manages and oversees day-to-day activities of Million Veteran Program (MVP), including all actions related to overseeing MVP personnel, enrolling and consenting patients, the proper collection of data, and maintaining records. Ensures proper collection and shipment of blood specimens. Develops plans for expanding recruitment efforts within the research guidelines and MVP protocol, including working with local site communication office in Veteran outreach programs and participates in public relations activities. Collaborates with Coordinating Center staff to develop and implement public relations strategies and communicate PR activities and initiatives. Qualifications Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-7, in the federal service. Experience in research investigatory processes, interviewing, compilation of data, and development and reporting of recommendation and findings. Experience in project management principles to organize, monitor, and coordinate all research project activities. Skills in planning, scheduling, and assigning work for projects, and ongoing monitoring and tracking of tasks, risks, and milestones. This experience must be demonstrated on your resume to receive credit. OR Graduate Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Education must be related to the position and must demonstrate the knowledge, sills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
