Job Description
The Director of Sales & Marketing leads revenue growth initiatives by driving strategic business development, customer acquisition, account expansion, and high-performance sales team leadership. This hands-on role oversees both sales and marketing operations, shaping long-term strategies that increase market presence and deepen customer relationships. The Director actively mentors and develops team members, engages directly with key customers, and ensures disciplined execution of sales and marketing programs that support organizational growth. Frequent travel and regular face-to-face interaction with customers are essential aspects of this position.
Responsibilities
Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing sales and marketing professionals who consistently meet and exceed performance expectations.
Establish clear individual and team performance goals that align with organizational growth objectives and market opportunities.
Travel 3/4 weeks of the month on site to clients to drive business development
Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and accountability to drive sales results and strengthen marketing execution.
Conduct regular performance reviews and territory evaluations to optimize coverage, resource allocation, and sales effectiveness.
Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
Lead sales meetings, training initiatives, and development programs to enhance selling skills, product knowledge, and market insight.
Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to increase revenue and market share across existing and new markets.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities, including national accounts and strategic partnerships.
Strengthen relationships with existing customers while expanding new customer acquisition efforts through targeted sales and marketing activities.
Participate directly in high-value sales opportunities and strategic account discussions, serving as an executive-level contact when appropriate.
Build and maintain executive-level relationships with decision makers and key stakeholders to support long-term account growth.
Guide branding, digital marketing, and customer engagement initiatives to enhance visibility and support the sales pipeline.
Evaluate market conditions, competitive activity, and industry trends to inform strategic planning and go-to-market strategies.
Oversee market research efforts and identify opportunities for business growth in existing and emerging segments.
Measure marketing effectiveness and adjust strategies based on performance data, sales results, and customer feedback.
Ensure consistent messaging and positioning across all marketing channels and customer-facing materials.
Develop budgets for sales and marketing programs and evaluate return on investment to ensure efficient use of resources.
Monitor and approve departmental spending, maintaining financial discipline and alignment with organizational priorities.
Analyze business metrics and sales trends to identify improvement opportunities and drive performance optimization.
Resolve escalated customer concerns and support long-term customer retention through proactive relationship management.
Collaborate with organizational leadership to align growth objectives with operational capabilities and support sustainable expansion.
Leverage CRM systems and sales reporting tools to manage the sales pipeline, forecast performance, and track progress against goals.
Lead outside sales activities that require travel and direct, in-person engagement with customers and prospects.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated experience in sales leadership, sales management, or business development, with three or more years of leadership experience in a related field preferred.
Proven ability to set and achieve sales goals, sales targets, and revenue growth objectives.
Strong in new business development, including identifying opportunities and converting prospects into long-term customers.
Expertise in customer relationship management, including managing national accounts and strategic customer relationships.
Experience in leading outside sales efforts and working directly with customers in the field.
Skill in developing and managing sales processes that support consistent execution and performance improvement.
Ability to lead talent development and team development initiatives that build a high-performing sales and marketing organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools to manage pipelines, forecast sales, and analyze performance.
Ability to analyze data, interpret business metrics, and leverage insights to drive informed business decisions.
Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to evaluate market conditions and competitive activity.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record to support travel and in-person customer engagement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred in business, marketing, or a related discipline.
Experience working with national accounts and managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
Sales forecasting and territory planning to support accurate projections and resource allocation.
Knowledge of branding, digital marketing, and customer engagement strategies that support sales objectives.
Ability to conduct market research and interpret industry trends to identify new growth opportunities.

Work Environment

This is a Permanent position based out of West Fargo, ND.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
