Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description
This role focuses on designing and developing mechanical and automated equipment using SolidWorks, with a strong emphasis on OEM, industrial, and machinery applications. You will create detailed designs, documentation, and proto@types, while working hands-on with equipment and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical problems and support new product and system development.
Responsibilities
Design mechanical equipment, assemblies, frames, piping layouts, and components using SolidWorks.
Develop and maintain detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation to support production.
Design and modify automated process equipment and purification systems to meet performance and reliability requirements.
Improve and standardize existing equipment designs to enhance quality, scalability, and maintainability.
Participate in new product and system development from concept through implementation.
Integrate pumps, valves, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, transmitters, and other instrumentation into mechanical and automated systems.
Work directly with manufacturing technicians during equipment assembly to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and meet specifications.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support troubleshooting of related electrical and control problems.
Work with customers, vendors, technicians, and other engineers to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues.
Dig into complex problems to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
Build and proto@type systems in a hands-on environment to validate designs and support continuous improvement.
Take ownership of assigned projects, driving them from concept through design, fabrication, testing, and support.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical design, ideally with experience designing OEM equipment, machinery, or industrial equipment.
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience designing mechanical equipment using SolidWorks in a professional setting.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
Hands-on ability to build and proto@type systems, not limited to desk-based design work.
Strong understanding of bills of materials (BOMs) and BOM structure.
Ability to independently solve technical problems and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Comfort working in an ambiguous environment with a self-starter mentality and the ability to learn independently.
Experience with robotics, robot or machine design, OEM equipment, PLC-related systems, and industrial equipment design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
3-7+ years of experience designing or developing automated equipment.
Experience programming or troubleshooting PLCs.
Understanding of industrial automation and control systems.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
Experience working with sensors, instrumentation, motors, valves, and other industrial components.
PLC/HMI experience with platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, AutomationDirect, or similar systems.
Experience with VFDs, analog instrumentation, digital I/O, communications, and industrial networking.
Background with automated machinery, process skids, water treatment, filtration, biotech or pharmaceutical equipment, laboratory equipment, or similar systems.
Experience taking equipment from concept through design, fabrication, programming, testing, and commissioning.
Experience working for an OEM, machine builder, or systems integrator.
Experience developing standardized or configurable equipment platforms.
Interest in joining a growing startup environment and contributing at an early stage.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role, requiring presence at the facility every day. You will work in a hands-on engineering and manufacturing environment, collaborating closely with technicians and other engineers around real equipment rather than working solely at a desk. The setting involves industrial and automated machinery, including pumps, valves, motors, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and PLC-based control systems. You can expect a dynamic, growth-oriented atmosphere where you help build and refine equipment platforms in a startup environment.
