Job Title: A&P Instructor Job Description
The A&P Instructor serves as an instructional specialist for an FAA Aviation Maintenance Technology program, delivering classroom lectures and hands-on training in accordance with FAA Part 147 requirements. This role designs and implements lesson plans, facilitates classroom and clinical sessions, oversees shop and laboratory activities, and ensures students gain the knowledge and practical skills necessary for aviation maintenance careers. The instructor also participates in institutional activities, complies with all applicable regulations and policies, and maintains accurate academic records.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement clear, structured lesson plans aligned with FAA Aviation Maintenance Technology curriculum and FAA Part 147 requirements.
Deliver engaging classroom lectures using approved lesson plans and instructional materials.
Facilitate classroom and clinical/laboratory sessions that reinforce both theoretical and practical aviation maintenance skills.
Ensure students successfully complete shop and laboratory assignments, providing guidance, coaching, and feedback as needed.
Manage all required shop projects, maintaining shop inventory, and ensuring training equipment and supplies are in proper condition.
Submit accurate grade and attendance information within established timeframes and institutional guidelines.
Maintain and complete on-the-job and formalized training programs to continuously enhance instructional effectiveness and technical expertise.
Engage with institutional colleagues through committee work and faculty development activities to support program and institutional goals.
Participate in all mandatory institutional meetings, ceremonies, and graduations as required.
Adhere to and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws governing education and aviation maintenance training.
Abide by all purchasing rules and provisions, and accurately report and balance accounts as required or directed.
Follow all institutional policies and guidelines, including those outlined in faculty and employee handbooks.
Comply with the provisions of the WV State Ethics Acts and uphold high standards of professional conduct.
Adhere to all safety rules and provisions, promptly reporting any personal or student accidents or injuries to HR by the end of the workday or work shift.
Complete all required performance evaluations in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner.
Maintain strict adherence to all FAA Part 147 standards in office practices, training activities, and instructional delivery.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 10 years of aviation maintenance field experience.
At least 2 years of experience working within an FAA Part 147 aviation maintenance training environment.
Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
Demonstrated classroom facilitation and instructor/teaching experience in a technical or aviation maintenance setting.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related tools.
Proven planning and execution skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and schedule instructional and related engagement activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience developing and refining aviation maintenance lesson plans and instructional materials.
Ability to manage shop projects, inventory, and training equipment in an educational environment.
Strong attention to detail in maintaining accurate grades, attendance records, and documentation.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in faculty training programs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
