Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Founded by Walter and Marquerite Matheny in 1951, the Matheny of today is a pioneer in providing fully integrated, personalized care and education that respects each person's dignity and encourages their highest potential. Our fully-accredited non-profit private school combines traditional academics with therapeutic intervention and pre-vocational skill development. Our Adult Services Program includes five licensed community residences/group homes and two adult learning centers. Staffed by experienced therapists and instructors, the program supports adult patients as they attain their highest level of functioning and integration into the community. Matheny's Arts Access program empowers individuals with disabilities to create art without boundaries. Through the use of innovative communication systems, the artists have complete freedom to explore a world that is defined only by their unlimited creativity and unique self-expression.

Job Duties for this position include:

Department Leadership

Supervise finance department personnel

Conduct coaching and performance management

Coordinate workload balancing

Develop cross-training plans

Manage departmental priorities

Accounting Operations

Oversee month-end close execution

Monitor reconciliations and transaction processing

Review AP, payroll, billing, and cash management activities

Ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities

Process Improvement

Standardize procedures

Develop desk manuals

Improve workflow efficiency

Reduce key-person dependencies

Business Continuity

Ensure backup coverage for critical functions

Coordinate succession planning

Maintain departmental cross-training matrix

Regulatory Reporting Support

Coordinate collection of operational data needed for regulatory filings

Support Director of Accounting & Compliance with reporting requests

Success Measures

Improved staff productivity

Reduced processing bottlenecks

Improved close timeline performance

Successful cross-training across key functions

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

The salary range for this position is $120.000 - $160,000 annually.

Position Requirements

Qualifications/Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration required. Master of Business Administration highly desirable.

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible healthcare accounting, finance, or financial operations experience.

5-10 years of prior supervisory or management experience.

Nonprofit and education industry experience strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
