Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description
This role is ideal for a tenured maintenance technician with well-rounded electrical and hydraulic experience in a manufacturing environment. You will support injection molding and blow molding operations by troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery, working regularly with 480-volt and 3-phase circuits. While strong electrical and hydraulic skills are essential, basic PLC knowledge and familiarity with PLC systems are sufficient; in-depth PLC programming is not required. You will rotate between three different machine groups, stay consistently busy, and contribute to both reactive and preventative maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical (including 480-volt and 3-phase circuits), hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on industrial and manufacturing equipment.
Diagnose problems with injection molding and blow molding machinery, including hydraulic circuit boards and related components.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and hydraulic prints to identify faults and perform accurate repairs.
Perform controls work on 24-volt systems, including signals, relays, tracing circuits, and related components.
Rebuild and reassemble hydraulic cylinders, clean and reinstall valves, and ensure proper operation of hydraulic systems.
Apply basic PLC knowledge to support troubleshooting of machine controls and understand ladder logic and PLC programs as needed.
Conduct both reactive maintenance and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Work safely with high-voltage equipment, including transformers, contactors, motors, starters, and grounding of electrical circuits.
Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally while performing maintenance tasks and handling parts or tools.
Maintain a fast work pace in alignment with the maintenance team's expectations and production demands.
Collaborate with team members, demonstrate a resourceful and problem-solving mindset, and share knowledge to support continuous improvement.
Demonstrate leadership potential by taking initiative, supporting peers, and positioning yourself for future group lead or supervisor opportunities.
Successfully complete and pass the required written assessment as part of the qualification process.
Essential Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical troubleshooting and repair on 480-volt systems and 3-phase wiring.
Strong electrical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair 480-volt equipment and work confidently with 3-phase circuits.
Controls experience with 24-volt systems, including working with signals, relays, and tracing circuits.
Hydraulic skills including diagnosing issues, reading hydraulic prints, troubleshooting systems, rebuilding cylinders, and cleaning and reinstalling valves.
At least 5 years of manufacturing machine maintenance experience in an industrial or production setting.
Basic PLC knowledge and familiarity with PLC systems, including the ability to understand ladder logic and support PLC troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and hydraulic diagrams.
Mechanical and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair skills on industrial machinery.
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally as part of maintenance duties.
Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong problem-solving mentality, resourcefulness, and willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
Ability to take and pass a written assessment related to maintenance and electrical knowledge.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Approximately 8 or more years of experience working as a manufacturing maintenance technician is highly valued.
Experience with injection molding or blow molding machine maintenance is preferred.
Knowledge of transformers, contactors, motors, and starters, including how they operate and how to troubleshoot them.
Ability to read and troubleshoot contactors and understand the purpose and methods of grounding electrical circuits.
Experience with heating coils and their operation within manufacturing equipment.
Exposure to Fanuc robots and the ability to read or understand their programs is a plus.
Understanding of Ohm's law and its application in electrical troubleshooting.
Experience wiring circuits in parallel and familiarity with common industrial wiring practices.
Comfort with reading and interpreting ladder logic within PLC programs.
Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in progressing into group lead or supervisor roles over time.

Work Environment
The role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where the maintenance team is expected to move quickly and keep up with production demands. The schedule consists of 3-day work weeks with every other weekend off, rotating between Wednesday-Friday (with potential Saturday) one week and Sunday-Tuesday the following week. Available shifts include a third shift with a shift differential and a first (day) shift from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. You will work regularly with 480-volt and 3-phase electrical systems, industrial machinery, injection and blow molding equipment, and PLC-controlled systems. The setting emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement, with maintenance technicians actively involved in both reactive and preventative maintenance while participating in company events and discussions about workplace progress and concerns.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
