Job Description
The Transformation and Reentry through Education and Community (TREC) program is currently looking to fill two full-time TREC Coordinator positions.
The TREC Coordinator serves as the primary operational lead for student enrollment, advising, persistence, and program coordination within the Transformation and Reentry through Education and Community (TREC) program. This position coordinates services across Admissions, Records and Registration, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, and the Minnesota Department of Corrections to ensure incarcerated and formerly incarcerated students successfully access, persist in, and complete their educational goals. The coordinator provides holistic student support, manages day-to-day program operations, and develops collaborative relationships that advance equitable access and student success while ensuring compliance with college, system, and Department of Corrections policies.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Manage the end-to-end enrollment process for TREC participants including application review, course placement, and registration in collaboration with specialists and Records and Registration.
Serve as primary point of contact for students and partner inquiries related to admissions, enrollment, and academic processes.
Conduct degree audits (DARs) and guide students in course selection aligned with program pathways and completion goals.
Assist students with financial aid processes including FAFSA completion, verification, and understanding aid status in collaboration with Financial Aid staff.
Coordinate program operations and collaboration with Department of Corrections (DOC) staff to support student transition and program delivery.
Coordinate program assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Salary Range:
MnSCU Academic Professional 2: $26.12 - $37.91 hourly / $54, 539 - $79, 156 annually.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of professional experience in advising students across related functions related to Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, or Records/Registration.
Ability to use Microsoft applications to create and or prepare a variety of documents including memos, reports, presentations, graphs.
Experience with diverse and underrepresented student populations.
Demonstrates intercultural competency by recognizing the value of individual and cultural difference.
Must have strong written and verbal communication and written skills.
Demonstrates an effort to improve cultural competence and actively takes steps to include diversity training in professional development.
Preferred Qualification
Three (3) years of experience in advising serving students across the functions of Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, or Records/Registration.
Proficiency in database functions
Knowledge of Minneapolis College policy, procedures, programs, curriculum, services and resources.
Proficiency with FAFSA processing and financial aid awarding
Other Requirements
Must have an active and valid state-issued driver's license and, a working vehicle.
Employment is contingent upon a successful background check completed by the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Current and former employees must be in good standing in Minneapolis College for consideration.
Work Shift
Mondays - Fridays 8:00am to 4:30pm. Some evening might be required for special events and program support.
Travel to correctional facilities will be required. Locations will include Faribault, Stillwater and Lino Lakes at various times of the academic/calendar year.
Telework
This position may be eligible for partial telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.
