Job Description
The Assembly Technician works in a clean, industrial automotive shop retrofitting large trucks. This role involves hands-on mechanical work and may include tasks such as mechanical assembly, welding, fabrication, auto body repair, and industrial painting. You use hand and power tools daily to build, assemble, repair, and modify truck components while following blueprints and electrical wiring diagrams.
Responsibilities
Retrofit and assemble large trucks in an industrial automotive shop environment.
Perform mechanical assembly tasks using hand and power tools, including drills, wrenches, and other standard equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to complete builds and repairs accurately.
Carry out electrical assembly and wiring tasks as needed, ensuring proper routing and secure connections.
Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure precise fabrication and assembly.
Conduct welding and fabrication work on metal components when required for truck retrofits.
Perform auto body work, including repair, preparation, and finishing of surfaces.
Carry out painting and industrial painting tasks to meet quality and durability standards.
Inspect completed assemblies and repairs to ensure they meet safety, quality, and functional requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop safety procedures at all times.
Assist with general labor tasks related to production, assembly, and shop operations.
Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly issues and perform repairs or adjustments as needed.
Essential Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work on large trucks and industrial equipment.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including safe operation and basic maintenance.
Experience with mechanical assembly in a production or industrial setting.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic technical drawings.
Hands-on experience with electrical assembly and wiring tasks.
Capability to perform welding and fabrication work when required.
Experience with auto body work, including repair and preparation.
Knowledge of painting techniques and industrial painting processes.
Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures accurately.
Comfort working in an industrial environment and performing general labor as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience in an industrial automotive shop or similar environment.
Truck or automotive repair, assembly, or fabrication.
Experience in building and repairing mechanical systems and components.
Familiarity with industrial production processes and workflows.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
Willingness to discuss previous tool usage and experience during the interview.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
