Kelly Services is hiring an Entry-Level EDM & CNC Programmer to join a growing tooling department in Spring Lake, MI.
This opportunity is designed for someone who is recently graduated from college, trade school, or a CNC/machining program, or who is currently completing a CNC, machining, tooling, or tool & die program and is ready to turn classroom knowledge into hands-on experience.
If you have education or training in CNC machining, tool & die, mold making, machining technology, manufacturing technology, or precision machining , this is an excellent opportunity to learn from an experienced team while developing your skills with CNC mills, lathes, EDM equipment, tooling, molds, and dies.
No extensive industry experience is required. We are looking for strong technical fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and genuine interest in CNC and tool & die work.

Direct Hire
Pay: Starting at $22+/hour , with flexibility based on education, training, and experience
Location: Spring Lake, MI
Schedule: 1st Shift, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Overtime: Approximately 5-8 hours during the week , with rare weekend work
What You'll Learn and Do
In this role, you'll receive hands-on training while supporting the machining and tooling team with the manufacture and repair of molds, dies, and precision tooling components.
Your responsibilities will include:
Learning to set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and EDM machines
Learning CNC programming using G-code and/or CAM software
Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
Developing experience working with tight tolerances , including tolerances as close as .0005"
Learning how to select, build, and adjust fixtures and tooling
Downloading and uploading CNC programs and making adjustments with guidance
Monitoring machining processes and checking finished parts for accuracy
Using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Learning how to troubleshoot machine alarms and machining issues
Performing basic preventive and routine machine maintenance
Operating multiple machines as skills develop
Supporting continuous improvement activities including Kaizen and 5S
Building practical experience with tooling, dies, molds, and precision machining
Who We're Looking For
This is a strong fit for someone who is early in their machining career and has technical education or training in CNC, machining, or tool & die.
You may be a fit if you are:
A recent graduate of a CNC, machining, manufacturing, or tool & die program
Currently enrolled in a CNC or machining program and nearing completion
Completing or recently completed a machining apprenticeship
A recent college graduate with coursework in machining, manufacturing, or related technical disciplines
Interested in building a long-term career in CNC programming, EDM machining, tooling, mold making, or tool & die
Preferred Technical Foundation
We're looking for candidates who have been introduced to some of the following through school, trade training, apprenticeships, internships, or hands-on projects:
CNC machine setup and operation
Tooling and tool adjustments
Tool & die concepts
G-code programming
CAM software
Blueprint reading
Shop math
Precision measurement
Calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Machining tolerances
Mills and lathes
Exposure to Mastercam, BobCAD, OneCNC, AutoCAD, or Fanuc controls is helpful but not required.
Education & Training
High school diploma or GED required
Recent or upcoming completion of a CNC, machining, tool & die, manufacturing technology, or similar technical program strongly preferred
College, vocational school, trade school, apprenticeship, or hands-on technical training accepted
Prior full-time machining experience is not required
Tool & die, mold making, or tooling education or exposure is highly desirable
