THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on providing direct nursing care, supporting daily patient needs, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Wernersville State Hospital, you will perform the following duties:
Patient Care:Support daily living needs, observe patient behavior, and assist with therapeutic interventions
Clinical Tasks:Record vital signs, document care clearly, and follow physician orders for medication and treatments
Safety Measures:Use crisis prevention methods and infection control techniques in all patient interactions
Communication:Share patient updates with supervising nurses and exchange information clearly with staff and patients
Team Support:Adapt to changing assignments, assist coworkers, and contribute to a respectful and constructive environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Hours of work during training: 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
Work hours: 2nd shift (3:20 PM - 11:20 PM), Sunday through Saturday
Two paid 15 minute breaks
Beginning 9/12/26, work hours will be 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM with a 30 minute lunch
4-week pattern - work every other weekend and holidays as assigned
Overtime:As needed, subject to emergency call in
May change based on operational needs.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $68,914 .00 ( before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Special Requirements:
This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.
If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
