Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic supports production operations by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial and food manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ensuring that packaging and processing machinery operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on production and packaging machinery to quickly identify and resolve equipment issues.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of industrial equipment including packaging machines, cappers, fillers, overhead doors, sprockets, pulleys, gears, and conveyors.
Conduct preventive maintenance on production machinery to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
Support production operations by ensuring machines are set up, calibrated, and running properly throughout each shift.
Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential problems and perform corrective actions before failures occur.
Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to assist in diagnosing control and automation issues on production lines.
Work safely around electrical systems and mechanical components, following all facility safety procedures and guidelines.
Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize repair work and communicate equipment status.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to maintain accurate equipment service records.
Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and provide clear updates on repair progress and estimated completion times.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience in food manufacturing or a similar industrial maintenance environment.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a high-volume production setting.
Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of production machinery, including packaging machines, cappers, fillers, conveyors, and related components.
Industrial maintenance experience with machine maintenance and maintenance technician duties.
Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience with electrical maintenance, including working safely with powered equipment and control systems.
PLC troubleshooting skills to support automated production equipment.
Knowledge of pneumatics and the ability to maintain pneumatic components and systems.
Ability to support production operations by keeping equipment running reliably and efficiently.
Effective communication skills to work with production and maintenance teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience specifically in food manufacturing environments is highly beneficial.
Bilingual communication skills are preferred to support a diverse workforce.
Familiarity with overhead doors, sprockets, pulleys, gears, and conveyors in an industrial setting.
Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical aspects of production equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and equipment reliability.

Work Environment
This role is based in a food manufacturing or similar industrial production facility, working directly on the plant floor with production and packaging equipment. Shift options typically include a 1st shift from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM and a 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 12:00 AM, supporting continuous operations. The environment involves working around machinery such as packaging lines, cappers, fillers, conveyors, overhead doors, and mechanical drive components like sprockets, pulleys, and gears. You will regularly use tools and diagnostic equipment for mechanical, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic systems. Work is performed in a fast-paced setting where adherence to safety procedures, appropriate industrial attire, and awareness of moving equipment and noise are essential.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
