Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance for information technology. Typical work assignments will include: Providing customer support services and technical advice to others. Providing database administration support for various applications. Configures, installs, and maintains of networked systems using network standards and protocols, and capabilities and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware. Managing accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment. Performing ongoing network monitoring and management, including diagnosis of recurring network problems and service interruptions. Developing and providing training to meet the District's needs. Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Under the updated Competency-Based Qualification Standard for the IT Management Series (2210), applicants must: Meet or exceed all required competencies at the minimum proficiency level for the GS-12 grade(s), as described below; AND Have the required specialized experience for the GS-12 grade(s), as described below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities/competencies which demonstrate the likelihood to perform successfully the duties of the position and are related to the work of the position to be filled. These knowledge, skills, and abilities/competencies are normally attained through the equivalent of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of the position being filled but may now be obtained through other means. Such demonstratable knowledge, skills, and abilities/competences may be typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience serving as an Information Technology Specialist responsible for configuring, installing, or managing network systems; Monitors system performance and identifies opportunities to improve service delivery; Performs ongoing network monitoring and diagnosis of recurring network problems and service interrupts; resolves technical issues affecting litigation support systems, databases, and electronic discovery processes; configuring, installing, troubleshoots and maintains customer hardware and software; Configures, installs, and maintains of networked systems using network standards; and provides customer training including orientation for new users; AND COMPETENCIES- The following competencies are required: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for theGS-12 level.
