The Electrical Superintendent oversees construction and maintenance activities for data center projects, with a focus on electrical systems such as switchgear, PDUs, and UPS equipment. This role is based primarily in the DFW area and requires strong computer skills, solid construction experience, and ideally a mechanical and data center background. The Electrical Superintendent provides technical leadership on site, coordinates crews and subcontractors, and ensures that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with specifications and engineering standards.
Responsibilities
Supervise mechanical and electrical construction and maintenance activities for data center projects.
Oversee project execution to ensure completion on time, within budget, and in line with project specifications and quality standards.
Lead and coordinate mechanical and electrical crews and subcontractors, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
Inspect work regularly to ensure compliance with engineering standards, project drawings, and safety regulations.
Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures to uphold workmanship and system performance.
Enforce safety protocols on site, conduct regular safety meetings, and promote a strong safety culture.
Investigate safety incidents or near misses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Develop and maintain detailed work schedules, sequencing activities to align with overall project timelines.
Coordinate with other departments and trades to align mechanical and electrical work with broader project milestones.
Manage tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring availability, proper use, and efficient allocation of resources.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, P&ID diagrams, technical drawings, and specifications to guide installations.
Provide technical guidance on mechanical and electrical systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, CRAH units, and process piping.
Support commissioning activities for data center systems, ensuring proper installation and performance.
Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of inspections, issues, and resolutions.
Prepare and maintain project documentation related to construction activities, schedules, and resource usage.
Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients to coordinate work and ensure expectations and contractual obligations are met.
Communicate project status, risks, and issues clearly to stakeholders and project teams.
Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during construction or maintenance, recommending improvements or modifications as needed.
Utilize project management software and other computer tools to track schedules, documentation, and progress.
Ensure that mechanical and electrical installations support reliable data center operation and meet performance requirements.
Essential Skills
5 to 10 years of experience in construction, site supervision, or a management role within mechanical or electrical environments.
Experience with data center projects or facilities, including familiarity with critical infrastructure systems.
Strong background in construction, including commercial construction and construction management.
Ability to supervise and coordinate mechanical and electrical crews and subcontractors effectively.
Proficient computer skills, including the use of project management and documentation tools.
Ability to read and interpret schedules, blueprints, schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Strong safety attitude, with the ability to enforce safety protocols and lead safety meetings.
Experience with switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, substation equipment, and related electrical systems.
Experience with mechanical systems such as HVAC equipment, CRAH units, air conditioning systems, piping, and process piping.
Demonstrated supervisory skills, including task assignment, performance monitoring, and team leadership.
Experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in construction or maintenance settings.
Ability to support commissioning activities for data center mechanical and electrical systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical engineering degree is highly preferred.
Mechanical background is preferred, with familiarity in MEP, MEP engineering, and mechanical installations.
Experience as a mechanical estimator or involvement in estimating mechanical work is beneficial.
Experience with data center environments is beneficial but not strictly required.
Experience with commercial construction projects is an advantage.
Proficiency with project management platforms such as Procore is beneficial.
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulations is advantageous.
Ability and willingness to travel between project sites is helpful for this role.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, clients, and cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
This role is primarily on site at a data center facility in the Red Oak, TX area, with expectations to travel between additional project sites as needed. The Electrical Superintendent works in an active construction environment that includes mechanical and electrical installations such as switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, CRAH units, HVAC equipment, piping, and process piping. The position involves regular interaction with construction crews, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders, using computer-based tools and project management software to manage schedules, documentation, and communication. The work is performed in a fast-paced setting where safety protocols and compliance with engineering standards are critical. The role is offered as a long-term contract of a year or more, with eligibility for benefits including 401(k), paid time off, medical, dental, and vision coverage, cell phone reimbursement, and paid holidays. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
