Job Title: Construction Estimator

Job Description

Responsibilities

Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to determine project requirements.

Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects.

Analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with project scope.

Prepare bid proposals and support pre-bid meetings and site visits.

Identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities.

Collaborate with project managers, design teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the estimating process.

Monitor project costs and update estimates as needed.

Maintain estimating documentation, bid records, and compliance with company standards and safety requirements.

Essential Skills

Commercial construction estimating and cost analysis.

Quantity takeoffs and budget development.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Relationship-building skills with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction estimating experience.

Knowledge of current construction market pricing, materials, and labor costs.

Experience with bid preparation and subcontractor evaluation.

Understanding of value engineering principles.

Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Work Environment

Office-based position with regular travel to project sites.

Combination of desk work, site visits, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds and the ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders and working at heights when necessary.

Fast-paced environment requiring effective prioritization and management of multiple projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
