ENTRY LEVEL No Data Center Experience Needed - open to candidates with experience in general labor, warehouse, construction labor, etc. $23-$24/hr for no experience, up to $28/hr with data center install experience. 10-20 hours of OT each week. Room for growth - long term opportunity.
Job Description
As a Cable Technician, you install, dress, and label structured cabling to industry standards while supporting the build-out of data centre infrastructure. You work under the guidance of senior technicians to perform terminations, basic testing, and fibre handling, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and in an organised manner. This role requires reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to commit to a demanding schedule in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Pull, dress, and label Cat5e and Cat6 cabling in accordance with TIA/EIA standards.
Begin RJ45 connector and patch panel terminations under the guidance of senior technicians.
Assist with labelling and cable identification to maintain accurate documentation and organisation.
Learn and perform basic punch-downs for telecom cabling under supervision.
Support basic cable testing activities using tools such as Fluke and EXFO meters under direction.
Gain exposure to fibre cable dressing and basic fibre handling while following best practices.
Follow all safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a clean, organised work area.
Take direction from senior technicians and supervisors, responding positively to feedback and instruction.
Demonstrate consistent, on-time attendance and a professional attitude on site.
Work Monday to Saturday on 10-hour shifts, including both first and second shift as required, and be available for overtime.
Use hand tools and equipment safely while performing installation tasks in office and construction environments.
Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment, including cables and ladders, as required for installation work.
Climb ladders up to 20 feet and work in tight or confined spaces when necessary to complete installations.
Adhere to site rules and project requirements, including any restrictions on prior work at specific facilities.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience in labour-intensive environments such as construction or warehouse work, with evidence of good tenure.
Understanding of structured cabling installation, including cable pulling, dressing, and labelling.
Ability to perform or learn termination and punch-down techniques for data and telecom cabling.
Basic familiarity with cable testing using tools such as Fluke and EXFO test equipment, or willingness to learn under supervision.
Strong awareness of the importance of regular, on-time attendance and maintaining a positive attitude.
Ability to work Monday to Saturday in 10-hour shifts and to accept both first and second shift assignments as required.
Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
Capability to climb ladders up to 20 feet and work safely in tight or confined spaces.
Comfort using hand tools and working while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching throughout the day.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with cable termination and punch-down for structured cabling systems.
Previous construction or warehouse experience that demonstrates reliability and strong work habits.
Ability to use computers for basic tasks related to documentation or testing, as required.
Willingness to travel occasionally within the region by standard means such as aircraft or motor vehicle when project needs arise.
Flexibility to work overtime when required to meet project deadlines.
Eligibility to work on the site, including adherence to any requirements regarding prior employment at specific data centre locations.

Work Environment
You work primarily in indoor business office and construction environments within a large technology and data centre setting. The noise level is usually moderate, and you regularly use computers and hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods. The role involves frequent standing and walking, as well as stooping, kneeling, bending, rotating, pushing, pulling, and reaching with hands and arms on a daily basis. You must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently, carry and climb ladders to heights of up to 20 feet, and work at times in tight, confined spaces. Regular, on-time attendance is essential. There may be occasional regional travel by conventional means, including aircraft and motor vehicles, to other locations as required. Work is scheduled Monday to Saturday in 10-hour shifts, with the expectation that you can work both first and second shift and undertake overtime when needed, in standard construction-appropriate attire suitable for an active installation environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
