To provide building trades services and respond to agency and employee requests in the areas of facility management office space, furniture layouts, modular furniture installations, a variety of

construction, demolition, maintenance, relocation, reconfiguration projects and assisting staff in the areas of the MnDOT motor pool and MnDOT warehouse operations as needed.

In consultation with the Central Office Facility Supervisor, this position is responsible for meeting organizational goals related to level of service, reliability, cost effectiveness, safety, and customer satisfaction.

MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Exam for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience with a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanical, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to build cubicles, make repairs to building items and assist licensed trades workers and to repair equipment, tools, and facilities in a timely and safe manner.

Experience using hand and power hand tools.

Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and bending.

Valid Class D Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

CDL Class B Driver's License

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this job will vary, but may include:

Frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds.

Transferring objects of various weights.

Walking, moving, standing for long period of time.

Sitting with pushing or pulling of arm and leg controls.

Strenuous physical labor including hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
