Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Technician repairs, maintains, and improves mechanical and electrical production systems in a high-volume industrial environment. This role focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance of equipment up to 480V, PLC troubleshooting, and ensuring conveyor and line systems operate safely and efficiently. The technician documents maintenance activities, supports continuous improvement, and helps minimize downtime through proactive planning and execution.
Responsibilities
Repair and maintain traditional mechanical systems, including cams, drives, belt and sheave drive systems.
Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems up to 480V.
Troubleshoot PLCs to identify and resolve control and automation issues.
Monitor production lines for potential maintenance needs and enter preventative work orders into the maintenance system.
Create and execute plans to repair defects prior to failure, focusing on both mechanical and electrical components.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical failures on production lines and conveyor systems.
Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, repairs, and downtime using PMs and SAP work requests.
Work with conveyor systems and 3-phase motors to ensure reliable operation.
Perform welding tasks, including acetylene, plasma cutting, and Heliarc/stick welding, as needed for repairs and fabrication.
Carry out routine machining, parts fabrication, and repair to support equipment reliability.
Support maintenance of ammonia refrigeration and related systems as required.
Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems.
Participate in cross-training to expand skills across mechanical, electrical, and automation disciplines.
Collaborate with operations and other maintenance team members to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Hands-on experience with traditional mechanical systems such as cams, drives, belts, and sheave drive systems.
Proficiency in preventative and reactive maintenance of electrical systems up to 480V.
Strong PLC troubleshooting skills, including working with PLC ladder logic.
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting conveyor systems.
Knowledge of electrical systems and experience with 3-phase motors.
Ability to perform welding, including acetylene, plasma cutting, and Heliarc/stick welding.
Capability in routine machining, parts fabrication, and repair.
Experience working with or around ammonia refrigeration systems.
Ability to accurately document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and downtime in systems such as SAP and PM records.
Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, with flexible scheduling.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills in both mechanical and electrical domains.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with SAP or similar computerized maintenance management systems for entering work requests and tracking PMs.
Experience in a unionized facility or similar structured work environment.
Comfort working with high-voltage equipment up to 480V while following strict safety protocols.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and PLC ladder logic.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with operations and maintenance teams.
Adaptability and willingness to cross-train across multiple technologies and systems.
Attention to detail in recordkeeping, maintenance planning, and equipment inspections.

Work Environment
This role is based in a unionized industrial facility with a focus on high-volume production and continuous operation. The primary schedule is on third shift, with 12-hour shifts such as 7:00 PM-7:00 AM (5 days per week) or 5:00 PM-5:00 AM (4 days per week), including overtime as needed. Employees receive two consecutive days off within a rotating 7-week schedule, and days off are determined by seniority, with flexibility required for scheduling and weekend work. There is a structured training period of approximately 3-4 weeks on day shift (for example, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM or 8:00 AM-4:00 PM) to ensure familiarity with equipment, processes, and safety procedures. Over time, there may be opportunities to transition to 8-hour shifts once staffing levels allow.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75920.00 - $75920.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
