Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on leading the design and development of comprehensive electrical packages for switchgear projects, including one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material. The Electrical Design Engineer will drive design for manufacturing initiatives, support product development and standardization efforts, and provide ongoing technical support to manufacturing, purchasing, and project teams in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of complete electrical packages for switchgear projects, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
Conduct thorough technical reviews of projects to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
Release bills of material for purchasing and fabrication, ensuring clarity and completeness for downstream processes.
Receive new product designs and product modifications, and implement these changes into production engineering systems in a timely and accurate manner.
Provide support to product development teams for modeling and design for manufacturing (DFM), with a focus on buildings, enclosures, steel, and fabrication.
Support the creation and maintenance of standard electrical designs and configurations to improve consistency and efficiency across projects.
Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, addressing product and project questions and resolving issues that arise during production.
Offer technical support to purchasing and strategic sourcing functions as required, helping to evaluate and specify components and materials.
Mentor and guide other members of the engineering team, sharing expertise in electrical design, DFM, and switchgear systems.
Collaborate with mechanical engineering, project management, and customers as needed to align design solutions with project requirements and expectations.
Communicate job status and potential issues clearly and proactively to leadership to ensure transparency and timely decision-making.
Support the creation, improvement, and maintenance of engineering systems and processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD with at least 5 years of experience in 2D design and drafting for electrical applications.
Experience in electrical design for control panels and relay panels, including medium and low voltage equipment.
Minimum of 5 years of experience designing medium and low voltage equipment, particularly relay and control panels.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design for manufacturing (DFM) related to buildings, enclosures, steel structures, and fabrication.
Experience with power distribution systems, including low voltage equipment, motor control centers (MCC), battery racks, switchboards, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
Ability to develop and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and detailed wiring diagrams for switchgear projects.
Capability to create, manage, and release accurate bills of material for purchasing and fabrication.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with an understanding of production processes and constraints.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and convey project status and technical information.
Ability to mentor and support other engineers, contributing to the development of the engineering team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
Experience in design for manufacturing (DFM) methodologies and best practices.
Familiarity with standardization of electrical designs and configurations across product lines.
Experience collaborating with mechanical engineering, project management, and customer stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve technical issues in a production environment.
Comfort working in a fast-growing organization with evolving processes and systems.

This is a Permanent position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
Sign on bonus - between 5-10K 2 weeks PTO 401k - 4% Match 6 Paid Holidays
