Industrial Security Specialistat the Wing level, providing security program management in support of the installation.
Duties
:
Manages the installation Industrial Security (INDUS) program by implementing DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies. Acts as a liaison between sponsoring units, contracting agencies, and installation leadership to coordinate cleared contractor access to classified information in support of installation operations. Reviews contract documentation, such as DD Forms 254, for appropriate security requirements and validates contractor compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Assists commanders by providing corrective action recommendations and reviewing reports of contractor-generated security incidents.
Manages the installation OPSEC program by providing oversight and coordination across all installation agencies. Conducts comprehensive OPSEC risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develops effective countermeasures for commander approval. Analyzes intelligence-derived threats, develops risk mitigation strategies, and reviews unit Critical Information Lists (CILs). Develops and conducts installation training on OPSEC topics and utilizes risk assessment software to mitigate vulnerabilities, ensuring a converged security approach by collaborating with other security enterprise agencies.
Implements and administers the installation Information Security (INFOSEC) program. Develops local procedures for the classification, protection, and control of classified and sensitive information. Implements regulatory guidance for classification management, safeguarding, personnel access controls, physical storage, and destruction of information. Assesses complex situations, resolves classification problem areas, and advises technical personnel on program requirements. Reviews security incidents and assists in determining appropriate corrective action, ensuring compliance with DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies.
Implements and administers the installation Personnel Security (PERSEC) program. Develops and coordinates local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for all personnel. Initiates and reviews requests for personnel security investigations, ensuring proper screening and verification of all documentation. Analyzes each request to determine the validity for access and the required investigation @type based on position sensitivity. Reviews clearance requests for adverse information and, if discovered, initiates correspondence to appropriate authorities. Assists commanders in determining if a Security Information File (SIF) should be established and manages the SIF process for all supported organizations.
Assists in developing, planning, and implementing the security enterprise awareness, training, and education (SATE) program. Develops and advises security managers on creating specialized security training and fulfilling basic training requirements. Identifies changes in security procedures and incorporates enhancements into existing training to increase security awareness. Provides security briefings to security managers and base personnel as required and conducts training reviews to ensure subordinate units maintain SATE compliance.
Recruitment Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Knowledge of industrial security concepts, principles, and practices to plan, implement, and evaluate security programs in these areas.
Knowledge of information security, personnel security, continuous evaluation, and continuous vetting, controlled unclassified information, nuclear information security and counter insider threat concepts, principles, and practices to collaborate with those specialists and produce converged policies in these areas.
Knowledge of security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security programs.
Skill in security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
Ability to establish working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and accomplishment of the mission.
Ability to plan, organize work, and accomplish deadlines.
Ability to communicate concepts orally and in writing.
Additional Position Requirements:
Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
Position is designated critical-sensitive and requires a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
