This Electrical Engineer position supports the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for a wide range of facility and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with project teams, clients, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering solutions from concept through construction. The role suits a technically proficient, detail-oriented professional who enjoys innovative problem-solving and driving strong project execution.
Responsibilities
Design electrical power distribution systems for new construction, renovations, and facility upgrades.
Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, short-circuit studies, voltage drop analysis, and other engineering evaluations.
Design lighting, grounding, motor control, and electrical infrastructure systems.
Coordinate project requirements with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
Conduct site visits to gather project information, verify field conditions, and support construction activities.
Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, and requests for information (RFIs) to ensure compliance with design intent and project requirements.
Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and project specifications.
Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution to support on-time and on-budget delivery.
Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting efforts for electrical systems as needed.
Maintain accurate project records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Contribute to effective client relationship management through clear communication, responsiveness, and professional conduct.
Collaborate with internal team members to resolve technical issues and improve design processes.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
Previous electrical engineering experience in consulting, manufacturing, industrial, commercial, utility, construction, or related environments.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards.
Proficiency with electrical design and drafting software, including tools such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis.
Technical proficiency in electrical system design, including power distribution and control systems.
Ability to develop construction drawings, technical documentation, and engineering reports.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with clients, project teams, and contractors.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary project settings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
Experience with power distribution systems and facility electrical infrastructure.
Experience performing power system studies and arc flash analysis.
Knowledge of automation, controls, instrumentation, or renewable energy systems.
Experience with construction administration and field support activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
Familiarity with industry-standard design software and modeling tools beyond basic CAD platforms.
Background or familiarity with agricultural (Ag) environments or projects, preferred.
Experience in client relationship management and coordination with external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking to complex engineering challenges and propose practical solutions.
Work Environment
This role begins as a remote position, providing flexibility in work location while maintaining close collaboration with project teams through virtual tools. Over time, the organization plans to establish a physical office, transitioning the role into a more traditional office-based environment. You will work with modern electrical design and drafting software, including platforms such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, as well as other industry-standard modeling and analysis tools. The work involves coordination with multidisciplinary teams, participation in project meetings, and occasional site visits to active facilities or construction sites to verify field conditions and support construction and commissioning activities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prinsburg, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $78.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
