Ed Herrington, Inc. is seeking a full-time or part-time Counter Sales Associate for our Millerton, NY location. This position offers a daytime schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with every other Saturday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Position Summary

The Counter Sales Associate plays a key role in providing outstanding customer service, assisting customers with product selection, processing sales transactions, and supporting daily store operations. This position requires a customer-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and working as part of a team.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Assist customers at the building materials and paint counters.

Greet customers, identify their needs, and recommend products that best fit their projects.

Promote featured products and current sales initiatives.

Respond to customer phone calls, answer questions, take orders, and provide product information.

Prepare paint orders to customer color specifications.

Create quotes, sales orders, delivery orders, and special orders.

Process customer purchases and operate a cash register accurately.

Research product availability and source special-order items when appropriate.

Stock shelves, maintain inventory levels, and organize merchandise displays.

Keep sales areas clean, attractive, and well merchandised.

Assist with inventory counts and related inventory functions.

Collaborate with management and warehouse personnel to maintain stock and overstock areas.

Review customer orders to identify opportunities for additional products and services.

Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively.

Participate in required training programs and industry events.

Demonstrate teamwork and contribute to a positive work environment.

Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous retail, sales, customer service, building materials, hardware, or paint experience is a plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computer and point-of-sale system proficiency.

Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
