The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams to enhance production processes and ensure that designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. This role focuses on developing a strategic overview of all product lines to maintain and improve production flow and product quality. The position requires a strong understanding of engineering practices, production control processes, and manufacturing methods, along with practical experience working in a production environment and using ERP systems. The Manufacturing Engineer will also leverage MS Office tools, including Project, to manage tasks and provide clear direction to others.
Responsibilities
Work with engineering, production, and procurement teams to improve manufacturing processes and support cost-effective, manufacturable designs.
Develop and maintain a strategic overview of all product lines to optimize production flow and enhance product quality.
Oversee activities in the manufacturing area to drive improvements in productivity, product quality, and safe operations.
Apply manufacturing engineering principles to analyze current processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and continuous improvement.
Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and standardize best practices.
Manage and participate in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) activities to address root causes of issues and prevent recurrence.
Create, update, and maintain work instructions to ensure consistent and accurate execution of manufacturing tasks.
Support machining and other production operations by providing technical guidance and process optimization recommendations.
Use ERP systems to plan, track, and report on production activities and ensure alignment with engineering and procurement requirements.
Utilize MS Office applications, including Project, to organize tasks, manage timelines, and communicate project status.
Provide clear direction and guidance to production personnel and cross-functional team members to implement process changes and improvements.
Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance operational efficiency, quality, and overall manufacturing performance.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
3-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
3-5 years of experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
Hands-on experience with manufacturing engineering, including process improvement and manufacturing process optimization.
Experience working with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) in a manufacturing setting.
Ability to develop, document, and maintain detailed work instructions.
Experience supporting machining operations within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of engineering practices, production control processes, and manufacturing methods.
Practical experience using ERP systems in a production environment.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including Project, for planning, analysis, and communication.
Ability to provide direction to others and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to work on continuous improvement projects and drive measurable results.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred).
Experience with complex engineered-to-order equipment is a plus.
Background in continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and techniques for process analysis and improvement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to production and quality challenges.
Ability to communicate clearly with engineering, production, and procurement teams.
Interest in developing a broad understanding of multiple product lines and their manufacturing requirements.
Work Environment
This role operates within an established engineering and production organization of approximately 25 engineering professionals, including dedicated production, manufacturing engineering (ME), and electrical engineering (EE) teams. The Manufacturing Engineer works in a collaborative environment that emphasizes training, professional development, and cross-functional teamwork. The setting is a production/manufacturing facility where safety, product quality, and continuous improvement are core priorities. This is a Permanent position based out of Rancocas, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
Full benefits, bonus eligible, tuition reimbursement. 10 holidays, 2 weeks PTO.
