Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician assembles, tests, troubleshoots, and supports the build of complex capital equipment in a precision manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on and requires strong technical skills, the ability to follow detailed work instructions, and experience working in cleanroom or similarly controlled environments. The technician operates with moderate independence, contributes to continuous improvement and quality initiatives, and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure reliable and high-quality equipment builds.
Responsibilities
Perform mechanical, electrical, and optical assembly of equipment and subassemblies with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and detailed work instructions.
Support the integration of major subsystems, including motion stages, optics, and electronics, into complete systems.
Carry out system-level calibration, functional testing, and system verification to ensure equipment meets performance specifications.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing or escalating corrective actions as appropriate.
Use test equipment such as oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools to verify performance and isolate faults.
Follow ISO and internal quality procedures, ensuring all work complies with established standards and guidelines.
Accurately record build data, non-conformances, test results, and other required documentation in the appropriate systems.
Ensure adherence to ESD controls, cleanliness requirements, and safety standards during all assembly and test activities.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in manufacturing and assembly workflows.
Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, standard work, and error-proofing activities.
Provide clear feedback on documentation gaps, design issues, and build challenges to engineering and other stakeholders.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and optical assembly of complex equipment and subassemblies.
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in a production environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and detailed work instructions.
Proficiency with electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes and related diagnostic tools.
Experience working in a cleanroom or precision manufacturing environment, with strict adherence to cleanliness and ESD standards.
Knowledge of ISO and internal quality procedures, and ability to follow standardized processes.
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing optical systems or in assembly and/or test roles in a related field.
High school diploma or equivalent educational experience.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assembly, testing, and documentation.
Ability to work with moderate independence while maintaining clear communication with cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
experience in electronics, mechanical or electrical assembly, or engineering-related disciplines.
Experience with soldering and handling delicate electronic components.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts such as 5S, standard work, and error-proofing.
Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives and suggest practical process enhancements.
Comfort using a variety of test equipment and tools in a production or laboratory setting.
Capability to provide constructive feedback on documentation and design to support product and process improvements.
Work Environment
This role is based in a precision manufacturing environment that may include cleanroom areas where strict cleanliness, ESD controls, and safety standards apply. Work involves regular use of mechanical, electrical, and optical components, as well as electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools. Technicians follow ISO and internal quality procedures and participate in Lean manufacturing practices like 5S and standard work. The position typically involves hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting at workstations or benches, with collaboration across engineering, production, and quality teams. Attire may include appropriate cleanroom garments, ESD protection, and safety gear as required by specific tasks and facility guidelines.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
