Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities The Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), GS-7 performs more complex nursing assignments within their setting. The LPN/LVN possesses comprehensive practical nursing knowledge and skills in specialized procedures and practices. The GS-7 LPN/LVN is responsible for goals and interventions that promote veterans in attaining maximum functional potential. This is accomplished through but not limited to modalities such as ambulation, bowel and bladder training, dressing, grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, range of motion exercises and fall prevention modalities. The Licensed Practical Nurse GS-7 serves as a member of the nursing team in the ambulatory setting {PACT/Specialty) within the Finger Lakes Health Care System. In addition, the GS-7 Lead LPN has additional patient care and administrative duties. They provide specialized care to Veterans with multiple disease processes on a regular and recurring basis. Including, but not limited to, wound care, Foley Catheter insertion and changes, ear flushes, therapeutic phlebotomy, phlebotomy as appropriate. Administrative functions include (but not limited to) performance improvement initiatives, Accreditation Readiness, Emergency equipment quality control, orientation of new LPN staff, scheduling patient visits, and partnering with teamlet and other disciplines for care and case management of complex Veterans. (d) Ability to proactively assist the RN or MD/DO in addressing patient's needs for medication/treatments, accurately administering prescribed medications/treatments according to established policies/procedures and appropriately recording administration and patient's response to medications/treatments received.
