CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client.
Location: Buffalo, NY
Duration: 12 months
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
Perform systems analysis, application design, and development for new features, enhancements, and production support.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
Build and support Azure-based solutions utilizing Azure Functions, Key Vault, Managed Identities, monitoring, and service integrations.
Prepare technical designs, functional specifications, and systems documentation.
Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and debugging activities to ensure application quality.
Evaluate application architecture, dependencies, and interfaces to recommend scalable technical solutions.
Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including technical analysis, development, testing, deployment, and user acceptance testing.
Coordinate development activities and provide technical guidance to junior team members on project assignments.
Maintain application performance, reliability, and operational effectiveness while supporting production environments.
Recommend improvements to technologies, development standards, tools, and processes.
Partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors to deliver business solutions.
Ensure compliance with organizational security, risk management, audit, and regulatory standards.
Support project planning activities, including effort estimation, technical assessments, and milestone delivery.
Perform additional technical assignments and project activities as required.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Work under the direction of the Technology Team Lead while independently handling advanced systems analysis and software development assignments.
Serve as a key technical contributor on medium to large-scale projects.
Lead technical activities and coordinate project work for less experienced developers.
Collaborate with senior leadership, business partners, technology teams, and vendors to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Provide technical leadership, project support, and subject matter expertise across multiple initiatives.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
No direct personnel management responsibilities.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and project coordination for junior developers and project team members.
Education and Experience Required:
Associate's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of systems analysis and application development experience; or a combined minimum of seven (7) years of higher education and/or relevant work experience, including at least five (5) years of application development experience.
Strong Java programming experience, including object-oriented programming, data structures, and concurrency.
Experience developing applications using Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
Experience with Azure development technologies, including Azure Functions, Service Integrations, Key Vault, Managed Identities, and Azure Monitoring.
Experience with HTTP client libraries, API authentication (OAuth 2.0), and API error handling.
Knowledge of build automation tools and unit testing frameworks.
Familiarity with application development platforms, software development lifecycle methodologies, and enterprise application architecture.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Experience coordinating with business stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities with the capability to manage multiple complex assignments.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Experience working within financial services or banking environments.
Knowledge of enterprise application frameworks and integrated systems.
Advanced understanding of enterprise application architecture and interfacing systems.
Experience serving as a technical lead on software development projects.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within Agile development teams.
Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies to improve application performance and reliability.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
