About this Role

An Assistant Construction Manager is ahands-on, field-focused leaderwho helps ensure the project is builtsafely, on time, on budget, and to quality standards-while supporting the Construction Manager and coordinating daily jobsite activities.
Pay:This is an exempt/salary position. The pay range is $90,000-$130,000. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.
Location/Travel Requirements:Position is based on site at project locations inOmaha, NEandLincoln, NE.
What You'll Do
Field Operations Support
Assist the Construction Manager (CM) indaily jobsite operations
Assist the Construction Manager in coordinating and monitorsubcontractors, crews, and equipment
Ensure work is performed according toplans, specifications, and schedule
Scheduling & Planning
Support development and execution of theconstruction schedule
Trackdaily/weekly production and progress
Assist withlook-ahead planning (2-week / 3-week schedules)
Identifypotential delaysand communicate them early
Help sequence work to maximizeefficiency and workflow
Subcontractor & Crew Coordination
Act as apoint of contactbetween subcontractors and project leadership
Ensure subcontractors are aligned with:
Scope of work
Schedule expectations
Safety requirements
Assist in resolvingfield conflicts and coordination issues
Safety Management
Promote and enforcejobsite safety standards
Supportincident reporting and investigations
Ensure compliance withcompany policies
Quality Control
Help ensure all work meetsquality standards and specifications
Performfield inspections and walkthrough when onsite
Assist with:
Punch lists
Deficiency tracking
Corrective actions
Verify with the QAQC manager that work is being completed to code.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accuratedaily reports, including:
Work completed
Crew sizes
Weather conditions
Delays/issues
Coordinate with field and APM to track and document:
Installed quantities
Productivity
Field progress
Material & Procurement Support
Assist with the construction manager to maintain accurate material takeoffs.
Coordinatematerial deliveries and staging
Ensure materials are:
Delivered on time
Stored properly
Available when needed
Communicate with procurement team onshortages or delays
Cost & Productivity Awareness
Monitorlabor productivity and equipment usage
Assist in identifyingcost impacts or inefficiencies
Help trackfield-related costs
Support CM in staying withinbudget targets
Communication & Collaboration
Serve as abridge between field and office teams
Communicate daily with:
Construction Manager
Engineers
Project teams
Subcontractors
Ensure clear understanding ofpriorities and expectations
Project Closeout
Assist withproject closeout activities, including:
Final inspections
Punch list completion
As-built documentation
Support turnover toowner/client
What You'll Bring
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Relevant bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
2 to 5 years of experience managing high voltage transmission or substation projects.
Valid Driver's License
Ability to obtain DOT Medical Examiners Certificate
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Working knowledge of construction scheduling tools and look-ahead planning.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Strong communication and coordination skills when working with field teams, subcontractors, and project leadership.
Knowledge of jobsite safety practices, quality control expectations, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction management or project tracking software.
