Summary You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in PORT OPERATIONS (N31) of COMMANDER - NAVAL INSTALLATIONS. Responsibilities You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all areas of small boat, service craft and waterfront collateral equipment for the Port Operations enterprise. You will update programs to maintain regulatory compliance through recommended changes to policies or procedures. You will investigate material deficiencies to provide recommendations to suppliers, users, or repairers. You will develop written recommendations to improve material ordering, procuring, and receipt process. You will discuss contract modification issues (funding, tasking, or manpower) with contractors and various agency or activity personnel. You will use computer software applications to document technical work (e.g., compile data, prepare reports and procedures, perform research). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Conducting Port Operations control, purchase, repair and modernization;2.) Identifying work to be performed on equipment and the proper trade backgrounds necessary to ensure maintenance and repair;3.) Applying principles, methods and techniques of a broad range of practical engineering and ship construction and graphic skills; 4.) Planning the proper use of equipment and developing long term plans on equipment use; 5.) Utilizing Engineering Department personnel and outside contractor Naval architects to effectively plan and manage overhaul work on equipment.
