Job Description
The Jacksonville Public Library is actively seeking a Manager for Marketing.
This position reports to the Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications and is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Public Library's outward-facing marketing, communications, and public relations activities. The Manager for Marketing is responsible for supervising assigned staff, coordinating workflow, implementing marketing and communications plans, and managing day-to-day public relations activities. They provide leadership, supervision, training, and guidance to marketing staff, ensuring that communications projects are impactful and aligned with the Library's mission.

Examples of Work
Develops, coordinates, and implements marketing and communications plans for Library programs, services, events, initiatives, and promotional campaigns.
Schedules, assigns, monitors, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned marketing staff.
Leads the day-to-day coordination of the Library's outward-facing marketing and public relations activities, including workflow, priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
Identifies, develops, and implements public relations opportunities that increase awareness of Library services, programs, events, and initiatives.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with media representatives and coordinates proactive media outreach on behalf of the Library.
Responds to media inquiries and coordinates timely, accurate responses regarding Library operations, programs, services, policies, and initiatives.
Researches, prepares, writes, and edits news releases, media advisories, promotional copy, newsletters, social media content, blog articles, flyers, brochures, correspondence, and other print and digital communications materials.
Reviews and refines communications collateral to ensure quality, consistency, clarity, and alignment with Library messaging, brand standards, and campaign objectives.
Monitors, evaluates, and provides results of marketing, communications, and public relations activities using campaign data, audience response, media coverage, and other relevant measures to support recommendations and continuous improvement.
Represents the Marketing and Communications Division on major event committees, project teams, and cross-department planning groups.
Provides marketing and communications guidance to Library staff regarding promotional strategies, messaging, communications plans, and best practices.
Uses data such as customer feedback, social media statistics, email marketing metrics, demographic information, community data, and campaign results to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Actively seek opportunities to increase public use of library programs and resources, enhancing visibility and impact.
Support the overall mission of the library by providing customer service in a manner that creates a positive customer experience.
Work with diverse populations to provide services in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner
Communicate clear direction, manage for results, and lead organizational change
Assign responsibility, take corrective action, demonstrate leadership in evaluating, developing, and motivating employees
Perform related work as required.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in media relations, communications, journalism, advertising, marketing, or related field.
Two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Bachelors' degree from an accredited institution in communications, marketing, or public relations is preferred.

Community Engagement: Strength in managing day-to-day PR activities, nurturing media relationships, crafting clear and compelling public messages, and ensuring all outward-facing communications reflect the mission and values of the Library.
Licensing/Certification/Registration:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license during employment in this class.
Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a City of Jacksonville public driver certification for employment in this class.
