Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for supervising a diverse workforce where typical work assignments will include wide variety of managerial, legal, administrative and technical support. Typical work assignments will include: Serve as the Deputy Supervisor of the Criminal Division's legal support staff, working with the supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist to provide first level supervisory duties. Plan and organize work projects and assignments to be accomplished by subordinates. Assess, monitor, and alter the work load of each member of the legal support staff based on potential or need. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must possess and demonstrate in their application packages that they meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify for the GS-11 level, applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience should involve performing the following @types of duties: Coordinating office administrative support functions; mentoring and providing training to legal support staff; assisting attorneys and legal support staff in organizing voluminous case information; assisting attorneys and legal support staff in organizing voluminous case information; providing administrative and technical legal expertise and/or training to support staff and working closely with attorneys responsible for investigating and litigating criminal cases and handling appeals. OR To qualify for the GS-11 level based on education, applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR Applicants may qualify based on a combination of specialized experience as described above and graduate-level education as described above which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. (Only graduate education in excess of the first two full years may be used in this calculation). To calculate your percentage of graduate education, first determine the total number of graduate hours that exceed 36 semester hours (or your school's definition of two years of graduate study), then divide the total number of your excess graduate semester hours by 18 (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two percentages together.
