Description We are looking for an ambitious Account Sales specialist to expand our client base and grow revenue in New York, New York. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and guiding clients toward solutions that match their research or software needs. You will focus on winning new accounts through strategic outreach while also supporting long-term retention and renewal activity. Success in this position requires a consultative sales approach, strong communication skills, and the drive to manage a fast-moving pipeline with discipline and initiative.

Responsibilities:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities across academic and corporate markets through targeted prospecting and outreach.

Build and manage a sales pipeline by engaging prospective clients through cold calls, follow-up communication, and relationship development.

Lead consultative sales conversations to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate software or research-focused solutions.

Develop account strategies that support customer acquisition, revenue growth, and long-term client retention.

Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, closing, and renewal planning.

Maintain strong relationships with existing customers to encourage renewals and uncover expansion opportunities.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure client needs are addressed and solutions are positioned effectively.

Track sales activity, account progress, and revenue opportunities with a high level of organization and accountability. Requirements - At least 3 years of experience selling solutions such as software platforms or research databases to academic or corporate customers.

Demonstrated success in business development, customer acquisition, and outbound prospecting.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build credibility across a range of stakeholders.

Background in consultative or solution-based selling methodologies.

Highly self-directed with strong time management skills, sound judgment, and a results-oriented mindset.

Comfortable learning complex offerings quickly and translating them into client value.

Entrepreneurial approach to sales with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.

A master's degree in a natural science discipline or knowledge of experimental workflows is considered an advantage. Innovation starts with people.®
